Expansion plans for Westfield Doncaster approved - what will this do for Doncaster?
Doncaster, VIC 3108 is located within the Manningham local government area, part of the Melbourne (Greater) Region in Victoria.
What will this do to the Doncaster area and in particular real estate prices? What will car parking be like and more importantly is there a plan to run a train to Doncaster?

$500m expansion, not $500 billion, just a typo I'm sure. Overall should be positive with a 14 storey office, giving it a balanced mix. Areas like Doncaster and Box Hill are just replicating the likes of Chatswood in Sydney, still 20 years behind and there's no issues at all with those suburban urban centres in Sydney with greater densities. All part of a vibrant city like Melbourne growing up sensibly and not sprawling too far outwards.
Also, a train is not the be all and end all for Doncaster as suburbs like Templestowe need more PT than Doncaster which is already quite close to Box Hill and has a good bus system already plus very easy access to the freeway. The lack of train hasn't affected Balwyn North much all this time either. A train to Doncaster will not stop people from Templestowe and beyond from using cars as they will still need to drive several kilometres to the station. Improved bus services and more park and rides in Templestowe/East Doncaster would be a good thing and would take the load off Doncaster a little as its currently the base for all of Manningham which is not a good thing.
As far as I'm concerned Westfield Doncaster is already superior to Eastland as it had a $600 million expansion in 2008 and property prices in Doncaster have already increased a lot. Not sure where you are coming from here. The so called parking issues are also exaggerated as I've never had any problems at Doncaster. Too many just like complaining about anything.
