Reviews of Dural, NSW

"Way undervalued for acreage only 45 mins for Sydney CBD"

Dural is a great place to live with a safe, clean lifestyle. Many restaurants are within 10 mins drive
and shopping is now available in a number of places including Round Corner, Cherrybrook, Castle Hill and Pennant Hills. You can eat fish and chips on salt water only 20 minutes away at Berowra Waters, go bush walking at the end of Quarry Rd which connects to the Great North Track as well as many other areas. Good schools abound and horseriding is a popular pursuit. Some of the great gardens of Sydney exist around Dural.

Property prices are low compared to other global cities where acreage this close to the major cities is much more expensive. People who move to Dural stay. Having lived in the area for 30 years , hard to move anywhere else!

Looking for a home in Dural?

"A Great Place to Call Home"

Dural consists of both acreage and residential property so it attracts young couples or families up to the very wealthy. With such a diverse range of options it gives the area a nice community feel with a real mix of people.

It is one of the safest areas to have a young family and the options for public, private or religious schools are excellent.

The traffic is just localised, so there are very few traffic lights or for that matter traffic at all.

Entertainment is pretty average with only a few options and the local pub is terrible. The area desperately needs a great family venue as there are now in many beach suburbs along the east coast of Australia. That aside there are a few good places to dine with fantastic Thai, some good indian, chinese and italian. Many of these restaurants are expensive so you question paying city prices without the view??

Overall you don't live in Dural for the night life or entertainment - but that's what makes it so good - it's incredibly peaceful, safe and beautiful.

"Peaceful Dural"

Dural is a semi-rural suburb in the Hills District of Sydney situated 36 km north-west of the CBD. It is in the Hornsby Shire Council.

It is an orchard, nursery and hobby farm area. It is not unusual to be forced to give way to horses! It is very popular as a weekend drive destination where you can unwind from the working week browsing through art and craft galleries and wandering through nurseries.

Dural has grown considerably over the last 30 years or so as more and more people have decided they would like to live a semi rural existence and still be within commuting distance of the city. As of 2006 it had a population of nearly 6,000. It is an ideal place to bring up children where they can have room to move and even keep a pony if they want to.

There is a delightful little sandstone chapel built on the Old Northern Road in 1846 which has been placed on the Register of the National Estate. Very few weekends go by without a wedding in this little church!

It is easily understood why those people who live in Dural and work in the city wish to escape at the end of a long hard day from the hustle and bustle to the tranquillity of this area.

"Rural living close to the city"

Despite its distance away from the city, the house prices in Dural are not cheap and they are often in the million dollars mark. This is mainly because of the tranquil and serene setting that Dural is surrounded by. Houses here are more like hobby farms than your typical suburban home and as expected, you will need your own car to be able to get around Dural or you can catch one of the private buses that services the area.

Dural is about a fifteen to twenty minutes drive north of Castle Hill and is governed by the Baulkham Hills Council. You will often see farm animals within the property while driving along Old Northern Road. The streets are clean and there is plenty of greenery here to make you feel nice and relaxed. I would recommend Dural to those who do not need to travel too far for work. It is also a nice area to retire too.
