Magnation - best new magazine store in Melbourne?

Last week I discovered Magnation (88 Elizabeth St, next to Hudsons Coffee close to Collins St).

What an amazing magazine store. They apparently have access to over 4000 titles and it's spread over 2 levels with lots of areas where you can just sit down and read.

And to top it off, free Wifi access. Noticed quite a few people taking advantage of this.

Anybody else know of a better place to get your magazines?

Hey Melbournefan,

Magnation is great, there is also one at Chadstone Shopping Center. It's located in the new section just near Toys R Us.

The one in the city is not really new though, i've been going there for a while. I still prefer good old McGills on Elizabeth street just across the road from GPO. It doesn't have as good a range of magazines, but it has all the technical books which i really like to read as well.

It amazes me how stores like Magnation make money. You can just browse any magazine over a coffee and never buy it.

I must say I prefer Borders for their selection of magazines. AJ, McGills has really gone down hill last couple of years since they shuffled the store layout around. I dont find anywhere near as much content.

I always think Mag Nation is a great place for magazines. But I am very disappointed with the customer service, especially with today's staff.

I bought one current issue and one previous issue (cost me approximately $40) and just wanted to double check if the older issue had a discount. Being their customer for 5 years so I am very confident that Mag Nation gives a discount for the older issue.

The one who served me today (at 3pm) gave me a disrespect look like "she does not have money to buy" and said " No, there was no discount" and said" if you want, you can talk to our boss". I told him that there was an inconsistency in their pricing so I just wanted to double-check but he said he needed to serve another customer.

I hope the store manager would give him a talk or something to let him know that his attitude to his customer is not acceptable.

Yes, Mag Nation does provides good magazines but their customer service will definitely turn them down.
