Reviews of Elsternwick, VIC

"Stunning area"

Beautiful area but extremely expensive if you want to purchase a house. A lot of wealthy people live here which makes it almost impossible to get in. Hopefully I win the lotto one day so I can live among the beautiful streets and Glen Huntly Road

"A great place for shopping and restaurant going"

Elsternwick Village is one of the best place in Melbourne for shopping and restaurant going. The op stores are favorite part for every one . The suburb is close the beach as well.

Rentals in Elsternwick

"Safe and easily accessible"

I have lived in Elsternwick for nearly 3 years. In that time, I have watched as Glen Huntly Rd becomes more lively with bars and restaurants like Bang Bang and Hanoi Hannah. Its centrally located to trams and the Sandringham line train and close to Eslternwick Park and Caulfield Park. I love the area and would highly recommend!

"Very Expensive"

To rent and buy is extremely expensive here, yet the suburb is quite lifeless.

"Overrated, dull suburb"

Elsternwick is very expensive, but I always wonder why. It hasn't got much to offer. Just a typical suburban area.

"Synagogues, hipsters and mid century modern architecture"

There's a large Chassidic Jew/Adas Israel population which keeps the area from taking off into the hipster stratosphere. It also gives a good cultural variety for places to eat out - and there's plenty of options for that. Most of our neighbours have lived there for donkeys years, many having grown up and raised their own families there. They tend to be a very nice bunch. My favourite thing about the area is the architecture. There's so many examples of amazing homes from the 30s through to the 70s of every architecture you can imagine. Heaps of public transport options.

The only downside to the area is that there are not many parks. But it means that the park land we have is very good and popular. Especially on the sabbath!

"Location that has it all"

Elsternwick is an amazing tree lined location that has it all and its close proximity to anything you could want is second to none.
Just some of the features are: Its only 6kms to the city, close to the beach, close to Restaurants, bars and nightlife in Chapel street and St Kilda, has excellent hospitals nearby, highly accredited school district, Chadstone and Southland shopping centres less than 15 mins drive and not to forget the fun action packed Caulfied race course, Also within Elsternwick is Glenhuntly Road and Glen Eira Road which both have an amazing selection of shops as well as its own grand independent cinemas (Beautiful Astor cinema is also nearby).
Most Houses are established period homes which have lovely features and gardens. Public transport with two train stations in the area that have regular trains running. You also have the excellent handy location of a ten minute train ride to the entetainment centre or MCG for sporting and concert events.
Have I left anything out? What more can you want in an area. Love this area and miss all this.

"a simply fabulous place to live."

elsternwick is a really great place to live! the shops, city and beach are close by. its is rated one of the most walkable places in the world by walkscore.com beaten by only 2% worldwide. great for teens with schools, sports clubs and public transport, and great for older people with easy access to shopping, healthcare including a local medicare office and loads of chemists and transport. when you walk down glen huntly road and you get to know people in the shops, everyone says hi or waves and is friendly and helpful.

"Parks, the beach and not far from the city"

Not far from the beach and not far from the city. Plenty to look forward to.
Elsternwick is a short jump from the beach for those beach people and set back a bit if you don’t like the beach in winter. The streets are lovely with a good coverage of trees and there are plenty of older character homes that add to the wonderful vibe of the area.
If you fancy a nice house to renovate there are still a few around the area.
There are plenty of good shops nearby and Chadstone isn’t too far away either.
The area has some good restaurant but being not far from St Kilda and the city you can easily get a meal without going too far afield.
If you fancy a night out, St Kilda is close by and the city is an easy trip as well.
