Not many people realise how close South Perth is to the city and importantly if you travel a lot, how close it is to Perth airport which is about a 20 minute cab ride. A diverse mix of properties are available, from single residence apartments to some of the finest properties in the state. Traffic is contained on the Kwinana freeway that runs straight alongside the river boundary to the West and to the main feeder roads of Labouchere and Mill Point. With riverfront boundaries to the north and west, South Perth is in some ways a bit like an island, although hardly isolated with good freeway access both north nad south. Perth Zoo forms a sort of centerpiece to the area with the large amount of greenery providing a level of serenity. The two main shopping precincts of Mend St and the village-like Angelo St provide a reasonable array of shopping options and include grocery, liquor, bakery, real estate, homeware, boutique, service station, hairdresser, medical center, pharmacy, restaurant, ice cream parlour, and optometry offerings to name a few. From Mend St you can catch a ferry to the Perth CBD. Forrest St has a mix of single residential, villa and presitige properties and is a very quite street running North/South, paralell to Labouchere Rd. There are two primary schools and a church in the street which runs from South Terrace (south) to Mill Point Rd (north). There are a number of parks within easy walking distance as well as the presitigous Wesley College, a private school that it is co-ed until year 4 and a boys school years 5-12. The neigbourhood is friendly but private and is quite a haven from the hustle and bustle of the city not 5 minutes away. The mix of residents includes young singles, professionals, families, retirees and holidaymakers.
