Best areas for families in the GC

This is going to sound crazy but we are looking for rentals with the potential to buy in an area of the Gold Coast, we are looking for a family friendly area that has quite a few new families in our age bracket (early-mid 30s), were looking for a place to set up roots not just to live for the time being. It must be clean, without cars all over verges, decent schools, safe, quite a few outdoor activities (parks etc), friendly neighborhood with potential for community meet ups and activities, can not be super bogan!
Does anyone have any recommendations? We looked at Coomera and have since found that it is VERY deceptive, as in it looks lovely but it is quite rough.
We have been looking at Hope Island, Coombabah, and Robina but were not sure on which suburb is better.

Varsity Lakes and Robina are both great suburbs. Would avoid Northern GC.
