Gold Coast - Quality of public High Schools vs Melbourne

Thinking about moving from Melbourne to Gold Coast for lifestyle/weather type reasons. We have two young children and are thinking long term once they get to High School. Currently we're in the catchment area for a great public high school. I've been looking at the rankings for those in Gold Coast (Palm Beach, Elanora, Miami etc) and unless I've got it wrong, they seem to be ranked below average? Is this the case with most public schools or am I looking at it incorrectly?
