Schools that are inclusive to autism
Hiya guys,
Looking for great schools on the GC willing to drive anywhere on within GC.
We are moving to Helensvale, from Brisbane. My two children have Autism; they are thriving and in mainstream kindy but need just a little extra support at times due to their language delays and a few other delays also.
Please could anyone advise of schools with small classroom sizes, that are supportive etc..
We are also willing to pay privately to ensure they get the extra help they need.

Hi Libby,
Have you tried Little Grubbs Orchard based in Southport on the Gold Coast? The team there are amazing and specialise in early intervention and behavioural support, not only for children on the spectrum but for all children with behavioural challenges. They have been god sent with helping my son integrate into mainstream, and couldnt recommend anyone better. All their contact details are on their website www.littlegrubborchard.com

My 7 year old son who has level 3 ASD also attends therapy at Little Grubbs Orchard. Lily and her team has worked wonders on his behaviour, particularly with effective strategies of self regulation. There wasnt a place we could go as a family in the community without my son having a meltdown. He had a very hard time releasing control, especially during the transition in traffic if you didnt drive in the direction he wanted to go, and would have uncontrollable meltdowns to the point that he was inconsolable, with meltdown episodes lasting for up to an hour. One of many challenges we had with him, but since his therapy at Little Grubbs we noticed positive changes in a few weeks. The severity, intensity and duration of his meltdowns dramatically reduced to the point hes not kicking, screaming or being physical anymore. His episodes also are only for a few minutes now compared to an hour what he was previously doing. Highly recommend giving Little Grubbs a try.
