Tenant rights for private rental in Gold Coat

I renl private, my landlord lives in a different state, it is my first time moving out of home, i have just been told by a person who rents out his houses privately and, he ask if me and my partner recieved a letter from the RTA saying that they have recieved our bond, no we havent, i have no idea, we have been here 6 months and have received any letter from the landlord or RTA. He said because she hasnt given our money to the RTA she can give her notice to leave and basically used our bond for the 6 weeks rent. We want to leave because contuinuess let downs from our landlord and unresolved issues regarding the property. So basically what can i do? Give her notice to leave and get our bond back or give hr notice to leave and use the bond to pay for 6 weeks rent and leave?
