"Great suburb, Garbage council"

A very good suburb however, Moreland is a horrible council and need to improve their game.

"Very quiet nice"

A lot of people that I have talked to which is half of gowanbrae and they said they should put a really good/nice pizza place. They say they should take away the fish and chip shop and put a really tasty pizza place where you can eat in it take away. It would be great for gowanbrae. Totally on board with the idea!

"Couldn't be happier!"

An amazing place to live. Gowanbrae is tucked away between essendon fields and airport west westfield. As soon as you exit the estate, you have immediate access to the Calder freeway, the Tullamarine freeway, Hume freeway. It takes approx 18min to get to the "cheese stick" on the freeway/city fringe, an hour to Geelong, just over 10mins to keilor and under 20mins to greensborough. feel so lucky to have found this secret little place and there are some fantastic views of the city. Close to Strathmore primary school and love the Gowanbrae kinder. Highly recommend!

"Close to the city but with peace & quiet"

Having lived in Gowanbrae for a year, I love being near the parklands and trails in amongst quiet, leafy, green streets but still close to the city. Keilor Rd shops, Essendon DFO and Westfield are all close by, with Highpoint nearby too. Lots of nice eateries to suit all budgets. Woodstock is my personal favourite for true Italian pizza's and the Patisserie on Keilor Rd is great for super tasty coffee and cakes.

In terms of public transport, I get a bit frustrated having to catch a bus and then a tram or train to work in the city. There are bus stops in Gowanbrae however I would love to be able to jump on a tram. But what I love about Gowanbrae is the neighbourhood is so quiet and peaceful, yet as soon as you leave you're amongst the hustle and bustle.

Easy access to the Moonee Ponds creek Trail is also great. Some days I'll walk along the parklands down to Merri Creek and back, or other days I'll bike ride to the city which takes me just under an hour. Watching the sunset up from our house, overlooking the city is a dream.

Great for

  • Quiet
  • Respectful
  • Close to the CBD
  • Decent
  • Friendly residents

"A hidden gem 12km from the city."

Gowanbrae is a beautiful, quiet suburb that is filled with grown tress, parklands and bike trails that take you through Moonee Ponds creek and to the city. We have been here for 2 years now, and the neighbours are incredibly friendly, and always say hello when they are out on their walks. The neighbourhood is quiet, peaceful and is tucked away behind Essendon Fields. It's 5minutes from the sought after suburb of Essendon and Moonee Ponds, down the road from Lamana and 3 minutes to freeways taking you to the CBD in 12km. The neighbourhood is known for having some of the most sensational views of the City and surrounding parklands, and properties range from townhouses to large family homes. The suburb is complete with a highly sought after long day care centre, fish and chippery, convenience store and beauty salon, and to top it off one of Australia's internationally recognised model's and tv personalities resides here.
