Hampton East, VIC 3188

I have lived in bayside all my life, and only recently moved to Hampton East (around 3 years ago?) and I love it.
1. Lots of families, you feel so safe walking around - amazing vibes, not snobby at all
2. Wide streets, well kept houses with character and mostly beautifully manicured yards
3. VERY dog friendly, there are 3-4 open areas I can take my dog to, and a fully enclosed dog park on Wishart St (can I just say the people at that dog park are top notch too)
4. Affordable, although prices are rising quickly as it's a burgeoning
5. Easy access to public transport - 10mins walk to Moorabbin station OR 5mins drive to Brighton beach station
6. Great parks, especially GL Basterfield park which has swans/ducks and 2 playgrounds for kids

Things that can be improved?
- There isn't a huge selection of decent restaurants/cafes near here, so we end up driving to Brighton/Hampton/Highett/Bentleigh
- Creepy commission(?) housing splattered across the suburb, the residents can be a little shady (especially around Wickham/Bluff Rd, I would advice against buying near there)

We just moved to Hampton East several months ago. We really love this area. People in here are so friendly. Our neighbours are really nice.

The Basterfiled Park is a good place for our kids to go when they can bored. Highett road shopping strip not to far away from where we live.. We can walk to the school. The beaches can be reach within 10 minutes drive. Moorabbin train station within 10 minutes walk.

We used to live in Carnegie. It was a nice area but now with so many development happening there. It was so crowded.

We are so happy to find this little gem suburb. The kids also are happier, with the big backyard and huge trampoline in the backyard.

Hampton East is an 'undiscovered' gem that is being discovered very quickly. This is a fantastic place for a young family, with very good parks and play areas, lake with the water birds it attracts that fly over our house every night. It's quiet and safe with very good primary schools, transport to and from the city, and shops. Borrowing from local areas like Highett Road which is poshing up, Hampton Street and the beach is only a 20 min walk away.
It's being discovered by owners and builders alike with a huge amount of renovations and redevelopments happening around us. The area is going through a real gentrification phase and is a Brighton East in the making.

Hampton East is itself a very small suburb but with many things (especially parks and playgrounds!). Although you won't get everything in Hampton East due to the size of the suburb, some good infrastructure are borrowed from neighbouring suburbs that are within walking distance including train station from Moorabbin, beach from Hampton, shopping from Southland in Cheltenham, golf course from Brighton.
It is easy to get around from here. Nepean Highway gets you into the city or Southern Suburbs and South Road takes you to the Hampton beach or South Eastern Suburbs.
Due to the rise in house prices recently, it has attracted some developers to build town houses around here and this has increased its density. Something I do not like but it goes on to show the increasing popularity of this suburb.

Not too far out of the city for a reasonably easy commute or for the more energetic, a cycle, this is a good area for young families.
It is home to a number of nice parks which is great for people with kids or dogs to take them and let them run. Hampton east is also not far from the beach for those lazy summer days by the water.
There is a gold course nearby for the golfers and plenty of shops close by to get everything you could need.
Schools and kindergartens are of good quality and close by making it an ideal area for families.
