"City Living in the Hub of the North"
Joondalup is a great place to live and work. The suburb contains train station, 2 shopping centres, Edith Cowan University, Joondalup Health Campus, North Metro TAFE along with 100's of other businesses. Joondalup has 2 schools Joondalup Primary and Lake Joondalup Baptist College. Lake Joondalup is also a great spot to walk, ride and enjoy nature. Sheldon Ingham. LJ Hooker Joondalup.

"Its out in the sticks and...."
Its oh so "beige". Houses built on sand dunes devoid of any character. Not a decent tree anywhere. Go to Joondalup city centre and you wont see any people on the streets... they are all circling the chain stores in a shopping mall. As for culture forget it, theres none. As for a cafe or restaurant strip. I hope you like MacDonalds, KFC, Red Rooster, because thats it folks.
"Great city living on your door step"
Joondalup is a very versatile satellite city located 26ks north of the CBD . Home to The Lakeside Shopping Center which is the second largest shopping mall in WA . Many more local attractions include ; Joondalup Resort Golf Club a great resource for family entertainment , pristine beaches just 5 minutes drive, Joondalup lake is a popular leafy nature walk for locals , lots of bars and restaurants, there really is something for everyone . There are a good mix of homes from town houses & apartments in City North to small and large family homes further from the City .
With many great schools to choose from one I can personally recommend is Lake Joondalup Baptist College , this is the school we chose for our son when we first arrived here in Perth . We were very happy with our choice and then chose to live within a 10 minute radius of the school
All in all a good mix of amenities, necessities, leisure, hospitality, education & nature

"Rented here and miss this place so much"
We were renting in Joondalup for a while before we moved SOR. This is a satellite city of sorts - There is absolutely no need to get out of Joondalup. This suburb is self contained and has been getting busier over the years. The shopping mall is the best amongst many I have been to around Perth. It is safe, has many parks, a beautiful lake and heaps of restaurants and pubs. Schools are great too !

"So close to everything"
Everything is on your doorstep! Great to see nice trees, duck ponds, walking tracks as well as being so close to all facilities. I like the mixtures of homes and great to see people love trees/palms. Good to be close to Drovers fruit market also. We live in a lovely cul de sac with great neighbours who really do look out for each other.
Leave the car at home and walk and see how lucky we are in Joondalup

Joondalup does have some good features, however realistically it's the Absolutely furtherest you would want to live from the City. First rule of property is that you never buy outside the 15km distance circle from the city, unless there is a unique feature of the property which is in Hightower demand.
Unfortunately Joondalup just becomes just like any other millions of suburbs around Perth - a sad fact that Perth is just simply to spread out.
If you work in the city - don't bother.
Southern Cross, were you born and breed in Perth? What you say does have some merit, however, firstly not everyone works in the city. You can do yourself and the environment a favour - leave the car at home and you can get a seat on a train from Joondalup station (I don't like your chances within the 15klm "circle"). Secondly if you have lived and travelled in other larger cities you would appreciate the fast trip from Joondalup to the city! Thirdly for those that are looking to buy in or near Joondalup, Joondalup is the satelite city of Perth (in the North) and as you will agree alot of people work in Joondalup (hospital, university, police academy, one of the largest shopping centres in Perth, the arena etc)
Anyone reading this Perth has grown in population in the recent years and is no more "spread out than any other city. The distance you have to travel each day to get to work depends on where you have come from, believe me Joondalup to Perth city is not that far and the train system is fairly reliable and new compared to alot of other cities.
Lastly you could always wait till you win the lottery and buy into the "circle", just don't expect a seat!
I would have to agree, Perth is so big and espensive these days, I don't know anyone who lives within 15kms of the city - because you'd have to be a millionaire to afford a property in this 'circle'!
And who wants to be close to the cbd anyway?! There is nothing there! Many people nowadays would prefer to be near the shops, beach & schools and have a backyard - Perth city and its close surrounding suburbs simply don't offer any of this! Joondalup is a city in it's own right, I love it there!

"The Next Great Stop From Perth"
Joondalup is a great place to live, from the elderly to the kids. It is one of the busiest shooping districts outside of perth and will soon be the next CBD the way the northern suburbs are extending.
Cited by the sunday times as one of the top ten areas for capital growth in Perth, WA and its easy to see why, with a new Myer coming to town later shopping hours and a host of restuarents, bars, clubs, cinemas and cafes there is always something to do. Or you just jump on the train and in 20 mins your in Perth.
Block sizes in the houses sector are a lot bigger than average with local shops an adundance of parks, a social club for cricket and football and one of the best rated public primary schools around.
House prices vary from $400k to $1.4m so there will be an area to meet your requirements.
I have came over from the UK and WA in general is has sleepy pace in comparison. However, if you want some resemblence of the UK but with great beaches and sun then this is it. Go too far out and by a newer home and you will feel isolated and later regret it.

im interested in moving to joondalup with my 5 year old, iv heard a lot of mixed thoughts on this and was hoping you could offer me some advice. im a gymnastics coach, and im looking for a quiet life, not much of a city person. looking for a quiet cult a sac near a nice primary school, ill be mainly using public transport till i can sort a car, can you suggest any were i could try looking in the mean time?
Live in Joondalup and also have a five year old who goes to the local primary school, we love it. Public transport is pretty good.
Hi guys, new to this site so hope you don't mind me joining your thread. We are a family of 4 (2 boys aged 9 and 3) and we are moving from London to Perth in early September. We've managed to secure a short let in Butler for 6 weeks, however, we are looking to secure something more long term ASAP. I have literally scoured what seems to be every suburb in Perth looking for rentals that meet our needs and wonder if you can help. I'll be working in the CBD so need an area I can get back to quickly to pick the boys up. I'm also looking for an area where there is a long day care provider and an afterschool club within walking distance to one another. If you have any advice I'd really appreciate it. I have heard quite good things about the area and would be very interested in moving here if I can get childcare sorted. Thanks in advance, Kerry
"Quiet Haven"
Look out of your Joondalup City North window at any time of day and savour the peace and quiet. Here the hoons are replaced by polite L-platers, though that's not to say the hoons never blaze a trail through here. If you crave a dose of hoon, if you miss the smell of rubber, the sight of spoilers, fins and chrome mag wheels, and you can't wait for a hoon to move into the rented accommodation up the road, then drive to Candlewood shops and wait 1 minute outside the IGA.
Joondalup City North - where occasionally the hum of cicadas is broken by the scratch of a parking officer's pencil as he prescribes an infringement notice for $60 to an inconsiderate driver for parking in a deserted street. City North - wake up in the morning and take your dog for a walk. Get home at night and..... take your dog for a walk. Then for your daily cup of cholesterol, head for the Govender's Chippy where you can join the silver scalped, barrel shaped patrons in heaven's waiting room. Why not take a walk through the City North manicured streets and be admired by lonely, single miners who suck on cigarettes on their balconies while playing with their cell phones?
Joondalup City North - If you feel life has nothing more to offer you, if you love nothing happening - this is a fine place to live.
