"Great little suburb"

We moved to kingsley two years ago after having lived closer to the city. We had some initial reservations about moving so far out of the city but we need not have worried.

Very safe, green and friendly suburb (dont know where the last two bad comments came from!) I regularly walk around at various hours with no issues at all.

Great parks for the kids and beautiful views across the suburb.

Local shops are great.

Close enough to the beach....without having to drop a MILLION bucks plus on a shed. Big blocks of land and decent spacious houses.

Sub 15mins on the train to work in the city at rush hour ( quicker than my previous commute from wembley!)

All in all great place to live and bring up kids.

"The disease from Woodvale has leaked into Kingsley"

I live in Woodvale but my daughter lives in Kingsley and says it's getting worse and worse as the months go by from the gangs of teens and crime.

  • Nightlife with hoons

arches92 . This is a completely false review of Kingsley. To give this suburb 1 star is wrong. Kingsley is one of the best kept, peaceful and pleasant places you could wish to live. I have never seen or heard of any unsociable behavior in Kingsley. Which roads are you taliking about? Kingsley is without doubt one of the best suburbs to live in Perth. Its has great schools, parks, friendly neighbors who have pride in there houses and gardens. It is close to the shops, train and highway and only 10 mins to the beach. The only thing it is lacking is a good Tavern but hopefully the Kingsley Tavern will get refurbished soon.

stevem19 Kingsley is a great place to live. I have lived here with my family for the past 3 years and haven't seen any kind of trouble. This is definitely a 5 star neighbourhood.

arches92 . Another false review. We dont have nightlife with hoons in Kingsley apart from the Kingsley tavern which is mostly full of 50+. What streets to avoid as I dont know of any bad streets in Kingsley? There are no youth gangs?

"Kingsley, a nice area apart from one area"

I've been living in Kingsley for 2 years and everywhere is great but Shepherds Bush, teen gangs lurk all over bushes. They threaten and scare my kids and are very loud at night. I love Kingsley though but every area has that one dodgy area.

"A Place to Move to."

I have lived in Kingsley for ten years. My children walked to Goollelal Primary School and and all their friends lived around them. It is a great family suburb with 4 good primary schools. People here are friendly, family orientated and take pride in their homes. There are always people walking or jogging or cycling. There are great cycling tracks around Goollelal Lake and into the city. The Dome cafe is a popular meeting place for cyclists on the weekend. The Kingsley Village shopping centre is open 7 days a week and is always busy. It now has some excellent shops (you can get quality food and wine here!), as well as a very popular IGA. There is a large Woolworths in the neighbouring suburb. Kingsley is a older suburb with the majority of the houses being single storey, 4 bedroom and built in the early 80s, most of these have been renovated to some extent and some completely. There are several parks and sporting ovals and large areas of natural bushland with walking tracks. I walk my dog in the bush every day, but many people go the local park where they meet up and walk around together. The location is really good (the reason we moved here originally). There is quick access to main arterial roads. The Mitchell Freeway runs down the west side of the suburb. It is about 10 minutes to the beach and there are two train stations for the suburb. Kingsley has the feel of a place that is developing and modernising. I love the relaxed and friendly nature of the suburb, the great shops and the location. We have thought about moving several times, but can never find anywhere we would rather live.

"All-around great place to live!"

Having lived in Kingsley for a good 12 years, I can tell you that it is an excellent suburb, where do I begin?

There are plenty of parks and paths for both leisure, weekend sports and exercise, the tranquil Lake Goollelal in the east of the suburb, and a west-east pedestrian path that tranverses all of Kingsley west of Lake Goollelal. Perfect for an evening stroll, walking the dog, playing catch, a bike ride, or just walking to the park or shops.

Speaking of shopping, there are three small shopping centres in Kingsley, one in the suburb's north, containing IGA, butcher's, baker's, liquor store, post office, takeout establishments, Dome coffee shop and more, with the local tavern just to the north. The other two are more to the east of Kingsley, on Moolanda Boulevard, and only have a few shops each. For other shopping needs, Kingsway, Warwick and Whitfords are all within no more than 15 minutes.

The houses were mainly built between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, some of which need a bit of a fix up, some of which have been renovated, and some of which have been knocked down for new houses, although the original housing stock dominates the suburb by far. There are a few retirement villages in Kingsley, the newest built just a few years ago to the east of Lake Goollelal.

There are four public primary schools in Kingsley, namely Goollelal, Creaney, Dalmain and Halidon Primary, for high school, Woodvale and Greenwood Colleges are close by. I didn't go to any of these schools, so I cannot comment on them, although Woodvale Secondary College has a good reputation.

Update 6/8/2013: There are three churches in Kingsley, Kingsley Community Church on Moolanda Boulevard, an Anglican church in Kingsley's north, bordering Whitfords Avenue, a Baptist church on the corner of Kingsley and Creaney Drives, and a Church of Christ on Barridale Drive. Catholic churches can be found in Greenwood and Woodvale, to the south and north of Kingsley respectively, and a Mormon church can be found another suburb south in Warwick.

Kingsley is also well situated to major transport links, Whitfords train station is in the northwest corner, buses run through Kingsley between it and Warwick station, and Greenwood station is a short drive up Hepburn Avenue. The freeway and Wanneroo Road are also very accessible from Kingsley, via Hepburn and Whitfords Avenues, and if you go a few more kilometres west, you're at the beach and the Hillarys Marina. A few kilometres to the east, and you'll be in Whiteman Park, en route to the beautiful Swan Valley.

Aside from the Kingsley Tavern, mentioned earlier, there are no real places of entertainment or dining in Kingsley, although Warwick, a couple of suburbs south, has a cinema, bowling alley and pool hall. Dining out, unless you're going to the tavern, requires a trip out of the suburb as well, Whitfords, Hillarys and Joondalup provide your dining needs.

All in all, if you can afford to rent or buy in Kingsley, I say go for it!

"A Great Family Suburb"

I have lived in Kingsley 7 years. It is a thriving suburb with friendly people. There are 4 great primary schools and one of the most popular, bustling local shopping centres in the northern suburbs. There are many parks, so always somewhere for the children to play or to walk the dog near by.

"Kingsley has everything a young family needs"

Parks, shops, transport. Safe, clean, and friendly. You'll always get a friendly smile from people you don't know at the shops or down the parks.
20 mins travel by train or car to the city.
10 mins to Hillarys harbour and the beach. Add a couple of more minutes to get to the dog beach.
Kingsley is an extremely convenient location.
