accessing shops, schools and cafes on foot in launceston

We're a young family looking to move to launceston. I don't drive but want to be able to access shops and amenities on foot. We can afford the more expensive suburbs but wondering where is recommended for cafes, shops and schools within easy walking distance?

I would recommend East Launceston and Newstead. Personally i live in Newstead and it is super close to cafes, shops and schools which is convenient. Also only a short 10 minute walk to the CBD for all other needs.

Kings Meadows is another amenities friendly suburb with a large array of shops, cafes and bus services running throughout. There is a local high school and primary school just a short walk over the neighbouring suburb and a range of modern and character homes!

I agree that Newstead and East Launceston are great locations for amenities and schools. Legana (which is 15 minutes out of Launceston) is also an up and coming area, with a great shopping hub and a Primary School due to be built within the next 2 years.
