"Main Beach is a prestigious suburb"

Situated just north of Surfers Paradise and is one of the Gold Coast's most sought-after suburbs.

"Use to love this place"

Was shocked upon my last visit. Whilst it is still a great spot it just doesn't have the level of luxury it use to behold. This was a suburb of status. Brand new luxury cars use to line these streets. Not any more. The sparkle has died im afraid.

"Great location but that’s all"

Great location cute Main Street (Tedder ave) although very overrated. Use to have the wow factor but in recent years has become drab and lost the magic that made it so desirable in the past. (Hasn’t evolved)

"Main Beach - best position on the coast"

If you live in Brisbane Main Beach is perfect for a weekend apartment. It's a 50 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD. There is plenty of first class eateries in Tedder Ave. The Yacht Club and Surf life saving club are both in Main Beach and easy walking from anywhere in Main Beach. Plenty of up market shopping at Marina Mirage. You can buy the best prawns and seafood directly from the trawlers at the fishermens co-op at Main Beach. You never need to go near Surfers if you live at Main Beach. However Surfers Paradise is an easy walk either along the beach or the excellent walkway. There is a beautiful Park adjacent to the life saving club with excellent BBQ facilities and well equipped play ground. The price of real estate is far less volatile in Main Beach due to its popularity with owner occupiers. Main Beach has been quite un affected by the sell off and price fall of units that has occurred in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. If the proposed development of an ocean terminal and boutique casino go ahead at the Spit property will become very valuable at Main Beach.

Great for

  • It may be more expensive, but it is worth it not to have the massive volatility of Surfers Paradise
  • Awesome beach
  • Great location
  • Friendly people

Not great for

  • It is expensive but this is expected

"Main Beach - Great for People watching"

Lived here for 7 months now, Love the location, beach, restaurants, Macintosh Park, So nice to cycle or stroll to Surfers, Southport or down to the Spit, Yes its bit more expensive than some other suburbs but totally worth it. Tedder Avenue great for watching the Rich and Famous, If you buy an apartment make sure it has 2 car parks if you have 2 cars, as street parking can be a challenge. Main Beach is a bit more civilised than most Gold Coast Suburbs, as it is mainly Residential. Public Transport pretty good too, bus to Train Stations and Major shopping. But so nice to walk anywhere. Glad we are here

"A gem of a suburb in the gold coast out from the hussle and bussle"

Main Beach is situation on the northern part of the gold coast, it is on the water side near Fishermans wharf and at the noth end of where all the Indy races were held and currently the V8 super cars when they are in town.
The restaurants are great and the pub at Fishermans wharf is right on the wharf with 300 degree water views and caters for all tastes. The Sheraton is opposite and has a seafood buffet to die for, if you purchase a Priority Priveledge care you can dine there with one guest for half price ($40 for the best freshest seafood around).

There are plenty of surf lessons and beach volley ball games going at the beach in between the surf carnivals and the multitude of motion picture camera's that can be seen there without looking too hard.

Surfers paradise is just up the road with all the glitz and glamour, as well as the seedy side we all read about, the ratio for houses to units is 30-1 but the people are all happy and the locals have a good little vibe going there. Everyone walks around as you dont need you car to get anything done ( except the obvious like a big grocery shop or bulky goods pickup) there are some huge warehouse style shopping centres 7 kilometres out at HarbourTown and the Billabong factory outlet, billabomg bikini's at $25 a pair and jackets at $30.

The realestate at Main Beach has been a lot more bouyant that the rest of the Gold Coast, it is the Blue chip area of the Gold coast so while it is expensive compared to Burleigh, Broadbeach etc, it is right on the beach and the locals love it as it is not as big and no where near the amount of highrises that the Gold Coast have.

Plenty of buses to take you up and down the highway so you dont even have to spring for a taxi to get to the airport, casino, restaurants, theme parks or the action of Surfers itself.

This place has had huge swings in the market over the 80's and 90's, went nuts in 2000 and has settled back to a steady growth now while most parts of Surfers Paradise are still finding the market tough.

There are a lot of retirees here but they are young at heart and most are fitter than people half their age as they jog on the beach, swim and walk everywhere.

I love this place, the smell of the fresh air, the vibe of the area, even when you go there all the time it still has a certain holiday feel about it.

I agree, with your assessment of Main Beach. It is a great place with a great feel.
It also has a very high crime rate.

"Main Beach, what more do you want?"

Main Beach is sensational! I have lived here for over three years and worked as a real estate agent selling in Main Beach too.

Awesome surf beaches, quiet streets, out of Surfers Paradise, some of the Gold Coasts best restaurants and boutiques plus some great bars!

Coffee? This is the place to be! Scotty at Crema and his crew brew up a fantastic coffee and always have a smile on! Puls you have Hard Coffee, D'lish and heaps more.

Goa Indian, Sakura Japanese (Brand new and ate there last night, its great!), Senze Nome for itallian, Tooleys for a cold beer and a woodfired pizza plus loads more!

If you want to live near the beach and have a great lifestyle move here!
