ozzyaaron - Thank you, Ozzy. Do you commute by train or walk the street? Would really appreciate more input. Have been looking for some street advice around Maylands. Thank you for the assurance above, though. Appreciate it. Loads.

I do both to be honest. I train to work most days but also will walk home from time to time from West Leederville. I also walk 3-4 nights a week in the well lit parts after dark. I don't know in all the time I've been here I've always felt safe and never had problemsn with crime of any sort.

Ozzyaaron - Thank you. Hope to see you around the area sometime soon. I've been reading up on Maylands and it's really an interesting mix of review - extreme haters and extreme lovers. Did a check of satelite map of the streets - it looks clean, neat and some units have swimming pools. What about this news? Where did it happen exactly, do you know? http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/maylands-double-killer-appears-in-court-20110825-1jbys.html

Oh yeah I guess it's a good place for some people but not others. I really like Fremantle for weekends for instance but I'd never live there for a number of reasons. That murder was I think about 2 years ago? I remember there being heaps of TV and police around and only working out what was going on when I saw it on the news. It's literally 30sec walk from where I am. I just put it down to crazy coincidence plus I'm pretty sure they knew each other. I'm pretty sure no one (or not many) wants to murder me :)

Ozzyaaron - Haha. You're funny. Yes, 2011. There's a street pic that accompanies the online news about it. I just need to be sure which street its at or which unit. Also, I noticed there's a DOME cafe and some other facilities. Still trying to lookout for a pet shop and other amenities. Looks like the street is great for cycling too. Yes?

Ozzyaaron - Hope I see you on the streets and we'll exchange hi-five. In the future, that is. Appreciate your positive energy.

Hey, I realize these posts are a little old...just hoping for input. 3Tails, have to moved there? How do you find it? Anyone else who lives on this street in Maylands? My partner and I are thinking of renting a house on 10th Ave, about halfway between Beaufort and Railway. I lived on 9th for a bit right by the station and found it fine. But this house, although gorgeous, it right next to a large, high rise apartment. I'm a little worried this will make it particularly unsafe. Any input really appreciated...

Hi there, I've actually just moved to America but was on 10th Ave across the road from the big high rise I think you're talking about. I was at 29 in a unit that was part of a two story 'complex'. As I've said before, I never felt unsafe there. I see a lot of people around there spending money on their places and a really nice set of town houses was built next door to 29 two or so years ago. I think it's the sort of area that has already been substantially gentrified and the trend will continue. The units I was in for instance were completely rendered just before I left. They are pretty scummy, old units, but I think the owners get that they need to spruce the places up to get what they're now worth just by being in that area. The old high rise is still a place where people pickup drugs etc ( not me, but even people I meet randomly talk about it - and I've seen it happen a few times ) but I'm not sure that made the place more or less safe. I'm pretty sure people that get their drugs are pretty happy. To be honest maybe every couple of weeks you'd get some ruckus ( usually couple fighting ) but outside of that I really think that area is somewhat perfect for combination of being close to everything but far enough away too. Good luck!

This has nothing to do with your question, I just wanted to say that I went out with the guy that was murdered for 10 yrs, and imho he deserved it, he used to beat me viciously, yes I was dumb for putting up with it, but as most Domestic violence survivors know it's not easy but I finally got away and for years I waited for karma , and when I found out he was dead, it was the best day of my life, hate on me , I don't care, I just wish I was a fly on the wall, felt sorry for the girl tho, but I read he beat her too. Justice? I think so.

Jennifer, I may be looking to move into the same house youre referring to, just wondering if you moved in, in the end? And if so, how did you find it? Any help would be greatly appreciated
