Avoid living on that road. You only have to go 20 metres off that road for things to get a lot saner.

Hi Jennianne, I don't live on Peninsula Road myself however I can definitely appreciate the concern for young children. Although I would not recommend living on such a busy street please don't be discouraged about the area by a few bad reviews. Maylands is definitely a mixed bag with some very unfortunate parts and other very nice parts. There are plenty of nice, safe areas that are far enough away from peninsular road. Good luck

The road is dangerous and the traffic is fast, the Bayswater City Council need to review the Road, and there are so many units on that road and some of the people that come out of them, I dont live on that side thank God I live on the other side closer to the river near the yatch club, but Maylands is a dump and will never change in all the years that I lived here I have seen little change just more people who want cheap housing, and some of those flats look horrible, they need to be pulled down, it looks like a 3rd world country, and I would not walk around over there after dark buy in another area

I have been renting on Peninsula Road for a year now and I absolutely hate it. The house may have something to do with it but I have found the street to be very busy. It is unbelievable the amount of people who go very fast along Peninsula Road. We are about 1/3 of the way down from Guildford Rd so it may be better as you go further along. There are lots of people walking along the street and it is a very multicultural area. We had a domestic dispute on our front lawn where a older man got beaten up by 2 women. That was not fun. At night you can hear the cars and there's lots of tooting and screeching of brakes when someone going fast decides to turn. However, after saying all that, I have spent time walking around the area and the streets that branch off from Peninsula Road are quite lovely, especially the river side, and much more quiet. I'm sure there are plenty of people who love the area but we are in the process of buying a property and I am steering clear of Maylands.

Hi Jennianne,

This area is becoming more and more popular with young families and in fact Maylands has always been a family suburb in parts. I would say though that Peninsula Road is very busy and cars do fly around this area as it is the main connector to the river from Guildford road. There was a tragic death of mum while pushing a pram on this very road in November by a car that lost control. This is something I think has been brewing for a while with the lack of traffic calmers along Peninsula Road.

This aside, as a father of a young family myself, I would welcome more families to the area.

Hope this helps.

cheers,

James
