Free gyms for all!

Free gyms for all!
Melbourne (CBD), VIC 3000 is located within the Melbourne local government area, part of the Melbourne (Greater) Region in Victoria.
I heard an interesting proposal last night on the radio.
We have public schools, pools, libraries and other local services - why not free public gyms.
Apparently the obesity problem is a huge burden on our health system and economy - why not see what free gyms can do. Anyone can use them.
Sounds like a great idea - and private gyms aren't exactly cheap anymore.

Yes, I can see it now, thousands of larger people lining up to get into the free gym. Get real, why are they more likely to go, just because they are large then say thinner people. If you look at he percentage of people who exercise, then you will realize that making a gym free is not going to entice any great numbers of people to exercise. After all, one of the simplest and most effective form of exercise is to just walk. That's pretty free is you ask me.
