What areas in Melbourne are more affordable to rent? (as close to the city as possible)

I am moving to Melbourne on my own in a few months. I am planning to move into a share apartment for affordability purposes. I want to live in the city if possible to try and save on transport costs and also for accessibility (I do not have a drivers license). I am hoping to keep it under $250 per week but obviously the less the better and knowing a cheaper area/suburb to keep and eye out for openings would be great :) Honestly any tips about finding a good share apartment would be appreciated :D
