"Facts-a place to research before you move in"

We lived here for some time. According to a local I met one day while mowing the front public footpass area of the house we rented, this district used to be a cattle/meadow/orchads ground which might explain there are constant weeds growing. So if you are moving to a house around this street, you may have to take a special care of the weeds in your gardens.

A couple of months ago there was a gun shooting incident on Sunday night at nearby Sydney Smith Park by a gang(daytime is ok but not night time) which was on the News. According to a neighbour who lived for many years here, some houses have been robbed in the past. Most recently a couple of weeks ago, our neighbour over the fence was robbed in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon. Luckily we had a security system but wonder if it could be truely reliable.

Houses along the street are mostly lived by the owners. Our rent house was built in a block of land inside the owner's house property. If you are moving to a house, you are expected to mow the lawn even around the footpass area in front of the house as well as front/back yards quite regularly. So be prepared to mow and tidy your gardens in the best condition all the time. We had to pay extra 60 dollars every two weeks(everyweek for summer) for someone to come to cut the lawn for us. We had our landlord living at the next door so there were no excuses if you neglected this responsibility.

We found that some of the neighbours in this area tend to be inconsiderate/intolerant. One neighbour yelled towards the entrance of our house in one morning in the first week we moved in because of barking of our dog which had some difficulty adapting in the new environment. That was a nice welcome. Our another neighbour was annoyed by our mails getting to their mail box. Some teenagers who live across the street sometimes have loud parties till late at night in spite of the fact that there is an elderly lady in bed living their next door.

We chose to live this area because it was close to the work and were in a hurry to find a place. We hadn't had enough time to research.

If you are considering to move in to this area, you might as well worth doing your homework of research.

On the other hand, we made some good friendship with Chinese and Indian parents with babies at the play ground in the park through our baby that was the only good thing occured living in this area.

The area is quite isolated from shops and entertainment unless you go to Parramatta Shoping Centre area. The station is about 10 minutes on foot.
Pros
  • Westmead public and Sacred Heart private schools are nearby
  • Westmead Children's Hospital is near over the other side of railway
  • Close to the Westmead station
Cons
  • Our neighbour just had been robbed broad daylight and noisy parties by teenagers around the street
  • weeds grows pretty much everywhere due to the historical background of this area as orchards/meadow/cattle ground.
  • a gang shooting happened at Sunday night nearby ( a couple of minutes away on foot)Sydney Smith Park recently
