The disasterous housing commission project which a stupid government implemented without thought and involved multi townhouse complexes all crammed together to form half a suburb has at long last been bulldozed.

The crime rate has started to decline and the new affordable housig in the area has had a good impact, the once destitute minto shopping centre has started to get a new lease of life and the vandals and degenerates of the area have moved on to other housing commissions at Maquarie Fields.

Good transport with buses and trains as well as a huge shopping centre, good sporting community with,lots of kids playing sports on weekends , the schools in the area need a good kick up the behind though as there is rife bullying and slack discipline from both schools and parents.

Realestate has been steady but not fantastic but this should improve dramatically now though .

With more focus on safety now maybe investors will return to the area as it has been a big issue in the past with damage and vandalism, the council rates are very reasonable compared to most suburbs in Sydney and this is a big factor when looking to buy or invest. The infrastructure of the roads is good and that is another plus.

For those who can not afford suburbs closer to the city it is definitely a good choice, it is closer than Narellan, Mount Annan and Campbelltown, has plenty of shops and probably too many takeaway chains for the health nuts but will appeal to those who like to drive 2 kms tops or walk to a full choice of your big chain junk food outlets, plenty of sporting options including NRL games in the next suburn of Leumeah where the West Tigers have their home ground and massive leagues club which has good and affordable dining optios as well as heaps of parking and a courtesy bus.

Plently of work around in Ingleburn and campbelltown so heaven for those who like to live close to where they work.

I am guessing in 10 years from now it will be a totally revamped suburb and will be a suburb of choice for young families who want to spend time with their children with one main wage earner as long as the locals keep on the governments back about the problem with the schools in the area.

I've lived in Minto 34 years. The 873 bus timetable service from Minto station to Ingleburn is shocking. Last bus during the working week finishes at 6.40pm from Minto station. Minto Marketplace has improved since Michael took over Centremanagement. A daycare centre and radiology is being built near the post office. Carpark is a mess near there until it's fixed but the carpark near the Fruit Orchard is fabulous with each section undercover. Coles should return being competition to Woolworths.

Unfortunately I have lived in minto for almost 1 year now and have had many incidents right out front of my house, yes there are good and bad parts to all places but I think I have moved into the worst part of minto. It is most definately not a great place. I do believe that the newer estates around minto are much cleaner and safer, however, a 2 minute walk from these areas and its back to the slums. The schooling options are not great either unless you go private. The mall that was once a ghost town apparently was refurbrished a few years ago but now they are rebuilding it again and i think its a bit too much tbh.

Lovely peaceful area, with many families. The community is very friendly, and the shopping centre has everything you need, otherwise it's just a short 10 min drive to Campbelltown. Ingleburn station is 5 mins away and has express trains to the city.

We moved to Minto 6 months ago, and it was the best move we ever made !

Lived in Minto with my family for 16 years, from 2005-2021.
A lot of improvements in that time.
It’s very quiet with only the occasional hoon making noise.
They tidied up the housing commission ghetto and now it’s full of brand new houses.
Minto shopping centre was given a makeover which it desperately needed. It has Woolies, Kmart, post office, BWS, hairdresser, clothes shops and a small food court. And a great fruit shop on the opposite side of the car park.
Aldi 1 minute up the road.
Maccas, Oporto, Pizza Hut & Hungry Jacks across the road.
Great doctors in the area too.
If you need anything else you can drive or get train or bus to Campbelltown Mall or MacArthur Square.
You have everything you need within Minto or just 10-15 minutes away.
My kids went to school outside the area so can’t comment from personal experience but did not hear good things about the primary or high school.
We sold to downsize and moved to Raby which is still in the same postcode as Minto and just as quiet…thank goodness.

I live in the new area of minto. I moved in late 2014 and back then it was just a construction site and i would not give it a rating due to the sole fact there was nothing there.
I live near Elizabeth McRae Avenue and even though i cannot comment on Mintos past crime situation, I've had some bad experiences.
Over the past 3-4 years
- My letter box was stolen
- A bunch of thugs jumped over my fence and through my backyard during a police chase in the middle of the night
- A drug raid next door
- Someone being robbed across the road. Detectives coming to investigate
-Shattered bottle glass across my lawn
-Some thugs trying to break into my car
- Annoying hoons in the middle of the night and loud disturbing partys/ arguments.
I cant recall anymore but theres still some other small issues not worth the typing
Overall its a visually okay area but after that its still a somewhat troubled suburb. At least my side of town which is considered to be the New and improved minto. Cant imagine how worse it was back in the day if this the new and improved haha

This area at one point in time was a complete sh** hole. I'd say early 2000s to about 2010 no one in their right mind would want to even think about living here. It was a rundown housing estate alongside the notorious Claymore and Airds.
The part of Minto that was an housing estate had been 'demolished' and reconstructed to only have 30 percent housing commision. The area has some really new houses with really cheap prices but please know that comes at a risk.
I've seen its area go through its worst time. Back when you wouldnt even dare about going near the station after dark.
It has improved and is slowly getting better. But with 30 percent housing is still a relatively high percentage and I see so many things happening in the parks still. Especially the new parks in oneminto with the basketball courts. Drug deals, brawls, fights and even muggings. The train station situation has improved though as theres police monitoring that area more but man its Mino..
So many robberys in Minto over the years too so shop owners be aware. (Subway, take away shop, aldi and some gas stations) all been on the news over the past 4 years..
Schools are the worst here too. Especially the high school sarah redfern.
Its improving though thats for sure but it still has its problems.. Dont be fooled by these fake reviews and new home owners trying to make this below average area look like something it isnt.

We have been living in newly built One Minto area for 4 years. It's a great location with beautiful parks, big shopping centre, public transport, good school within walking distance. Moreover One Minto community is always there if you need any help.

Brilliant examples of a revitalised suburb with many new residents across many culture proud of their homes and neighbourhoods. Some acreages toward the Ingleburn side have become some of the most valuable land in the Macarthur region! With a refurbished Minto Mall after many years in disrepair, it's wonderful to see the suburb go from strength to strength.

New houses and nice streets, the best street is Elizabeth McRae Ave as this overlook a park, great for family. Family from the local area generally come out and uses the park around 4 to 6 pm.

Proximity to the renovated Minto Mall and station and M5 and plenty of primary schools, 5 schools! in Minto.

When I moved here with my wife four years ago. We were newly weds and first home buyer. Everyone's reaction was Minto????. But things have changed so much. Everything here is getting better Train station, buses, malls, shops, restaurants, childcare and parks. Neighbours are nice and friendly. Can't ask for more as its the perfect place to live, work and raise young family.

Do your research. The housing commission people have only moved out whilst the government revamp the properties. Minto is expected to have 360 public housing properties and 800 private ones. So whilst it might be nice now since the public housing tenants have moved to Campbelltown whilst the revamp occurs, this is not what to expect long term.

I grew up around Minto and have never had a problem with crime. Have been back over the years and it had changed by looking at the state of the shops and Minto Mall. It is now changing with new streets and new houses where the housing commision were. I can't wait for Minto Mall to be finished because it was sad to see it the way it was. It is such an important part of Minto and has lots of memories for people who grew up in the area. Minto is great because it is only one hour into the city on the East Hills line and you always get a seat. So it is really convenient if you work or study in Parramatta or the city. Some parts of the Campbelltown area are very far from a station. It is also close to the freeway into the city. I think it is good value for money if you buy in Minto because you have all the conveniences of major shops such as Aldi as well as a new Woolworths, Best and Less, Kmart and you have the rail line very close and you can get a new house at a good price for Sydney.

The Minto people thought of 10 years ago is now finished and a new Minto has been made. Just check out One Minto! It's beautiful over there and I am very happy that I live in One Minto. All the housing commission is getting demolished and landcom is making new land out of it and selling it to people. There's still alot more stages of land to be released. The neighbours are friendly and very helpful. Minto mall is getting demolished and Minto Marketplace is going to get built on instead. There's not alot of traffic in Minto. It's very peaceful and very quiet. I grew up in Minto and still live in Minto and my house has never been broken into. All of the dodgy people are moving away. The place is very beautiful now and you won't think that you are in Minto when you look at it now.It's a great place to grow up your kids. In 3 years time, Minto will be one of the most beautiful places in Sydney.

I bought a house in Minto in 2009. My wife was not too keen on living here and nor was I. But the house was a great buy, so we couldnt say no. A lot of people talk about how bad Minto is, but I have not had a single negative feeling, vibe since being here. Neighbours are good and have not had any troubles whatsoever. This area was at one stage bad, but 90% of the housing commission people have gone, and in 2 years Minto will have 300 plus brand new houses right where the majority of the trouble makers were. Because Minto was a bad area before, people still think its bad based on how the area once was. No area is perfect and every now and then something will happen here, just like it will happen in areas closer to the city. Don't judge the area based on 2 or 3 things that happened in the past five years. I came from an area in Casula, near Liverpool called Glen Regent estate. no house under $500.000 and we pay less for both car and home insurance here in Minto. I must admit that the shopping centre is shocking and schools are not the greatest, besides that the area is great to live in. Very affordable (for now), good transport, good roads with not too much traffic. And will only improve more once the housing development is finished. I am happy here and I am sure there are many more people that are happy living in the new Minto.

Minto/Minto Heights is very affordable but it comes at a price. If you are new to the area please do your research, don't base your decision on the ratings you see in this site as it is easy to rate up your own town - and that's how the other comments for minto looks like. There are some good areas in minto, but beware of areas close to the large housing commission. Theft, robbery, assault, sexual offence is common, but it has reduced over the years. Some of the housing commission has also been removed, but not much has changed. As the property prices are cheap, a huge majority of the residents are labourers, and not the best neighbours. Minto has green parks, but I won't recommend them for children because of the crime rate in minto. There is no point of a "country feeling" if it is not safe. Public transport is poor, so take into account that it is a very long drive to the city. The quality of schools in the area is very poor, so it is not the best choice if you care about your kids education. Overall, it is a below average suburb. I got married and purchsed a home off the plan with my wife in MINTO in 2001, we lived there for 5 years, we never had any problems what so ever with the area and would have to say was the quietest most peaceful 5 years we have had ever since we moved in 2006.We still own the property and has been rented now for 4 years continuously.We were first home buyers and newly weds and it was the best time of our lives.To all that are thinking of were to purchase property stop and look at minto you wont be dissapointed....

Me and my wife really enjoy living in Minto. We moved here only last year after getting married. Transportation was very important for us when we were looking for an affordable home. Both me and my wife work in the city and having Minto on the East Hill train line, it couldnt be much easier!

As an experienced Real Estate agent in the past I also see allot of potential in Minto. With all the housing commisions already pulled down and new houses going up I can already see growth which would be benifical to not only our current communities but for future home owners also.
