Reviews of Rasmussen, QLD
"Affordable and close to everything"
Close to everything. The motorway has really opened Rasmussen up, very close to Jcu, hospital and army barricks and only a 30 min drive to the city with peak hour traffic. Lots of parks and very close to Ross river boat ramp where you can canoe or jet ski to your hearts content. There are also lots of bike paths along the river which are really pretty. I brought here in 2009 and found the neighbourhood has come really come up. My neighbours and friendly, some are in housing commission but these tend to be retirees, who have been no problem. The problem housing commission people were evicted by the previous government and the houses sold to owner occupiers. A new sub division has been built in the suburb that consists of dept of defence family's and private buyers.

"Quiet riverside town with easy access to amentiies"
In the past 8years I have lived here I have found the suburb to be freindly and safe. Being walking distance to the shops doctors and pharmacy as well as having the ring road so near for access to the beach has made this an excellent place for young professionals to live. Having the river close by is great for quiet walks and fishing for the kids on the Ross river.

"Pretty mountain and river views"
Rasmussen is a little quiet , it has great walks along the river and is only 5km from the Willows Shopping Centre and Riverway complex which has 2 huge swimming lagoons, great for cooling down on those hot days.
I hear there is a masterplan in place for a new upper ross shopping plaza which would go in place of the old tired looking shops there at present.

"Nice place to live very convienient and safe."
Great place close to the Uni, Hospital, and shopping. Nice walks along the riverway. Walking distance to amenities such as doctors, dentist, pharmacy and supermarket which is handy for fly in fly out families. Much safer than the coast during cyclone season. Safe and trouble free when compared with other suburbs,
seems to be alot of development happening recently and like the space.

"Most dangerous area Ive ever lived in"
I've lived in a few places in Townsville, some of which having govt housing before I moved to Rasmussen. This area was by far the worst. We dealt with people in our backyard at night, people constantly banging our windows, people in our front yard and we caught one a few times going as far as trying to look into our childrens windows. After speaking to police on their opinion of the area, they recommended not an area for families.
Great for
- Lots of schools
Not great for
- High crime
"Great place for families"
Lived in Rasmussen for 13 years, it's a great neighbourhood. My kids were born there and always had plenty of friends to play with. Pretty quiet, especially at night. Most people seem to move there and stay, there's not too many rentals and most people take a lot of pride in looking after their place.
Shops not too far away: Woolworths and 2 x IGA supermarkets within 5 mins in either direction. Willows Shopping centre and Dairy Farmers Stadium also close. The Douglas Bridge is also only a short drive so literally less than 10 mins to Uni and the Hospital.
2 public and 1 private primary schools and a high school nearby.
Great place with everything you need.
