Richmond Bars - Best for boozing (and women)

Hey yall,

I've been living in Richmond for about 5 months (just moved from Sydney) and looking for some of the good local haunts.

My votes so far go to (and best for the girlies include):

Public House on Church Street
Holiava Bar on Swan Street
The Collection on Bridge Road

The one I hate the most - The Terminus. People rave about it, and that it's an institution and I think that's crap...literally.

I want to try Plan B bar on Bridge. Anyone been?

Hi,
Plan B used to be Bar Humbug and it was a nice venue then, not been there for a while now though.

Further up the street is Don Mateos, a nice tapas and wine bar, with interesting cocktails.....it is next door to Olmecs and owned by the same people.

Hubcap is just around the corner on Burnley, opposite the Richmond Tigers pub. other than that.......it would be great is someone opened a bar above the shops, the view could be amazing and now that Bridge rd is dying off a little in the shopping dept it could stamp itself out as a food place to be.

Hope that helps!

cheers

I love the Grand Hotel on Burnley St, the dining room is great but the bar on a Friday night after work has a great atmosphere.

I love Holiava bar, it's always a place I go back to year after year.

Hey Zoewolf, great idea about the bar above the shops along Bridge Road, although there are probably height restrictions. I think a bar along the Yarra somewhere in Richmond would be great. I always thought Phoenix could have made a good bar, but they went all upmarket. We used to have after work drinks there but we soon moved across to Flow.

Try out Flow on Victoria Street localrichy, it's a cruisy little bar\restaurant that I think has happy hour on Fridays at around 5ish?

ok, so an update! I've been frequenting a pub called The Terminus. It's kinda dodgy, but I've come to realise that's what suits me best, and it's most like the bars in Sydney I used to frequent.

I also found this place online called Hidden bars of Melbourne. Anyone done it?

I think it might be fun, would be great to get a bunch of friends together

I like the Terminus! It's casual and comfy and the burgers are quite good.

Great Britain(GB) is a great, if not a little grungy, bar for boozing anyway. Women.... i'm not so sure:)

Has anyone tried out Royal Saxon? It's been getting a bit of buzz lately, and every time I drive past it is sooo busy. It's on Church Street just up from Public House.

For beer, the Royston has a great selection and the staff are all pretty friendly and easy going!
