Always pays to ask the questions so you know, rather then wonder or blunder!
Rates vary a bit but a basic block is around $450/ quarter. Water is a similar price to the mainland. No petrol other than 91 sorry, and diesel. A secure carpark on the mainland is around $1000/year but shop around the private ones in walking distance to the ferries. The likes of Kmart and Bunnings do not deliver but there are a couple of good daily island transports that charge in the order of $80/pallet depending on quantity. Rego is the same except if you get island rego which restricts you to the bay islands with the occasional, pre-approved trip to the mainland, it is about half price of normal rego. House insurance is around the same as mainland but you need to shop around.
I think that about covers most what you asked. As to what else, nothing jumps out at me. Groceries are a little more expensive but if you keep an eye on the specials, it works out fine. Our fuel is a complete ripoff usually something like 30c/litre more than mainland prices.
Good luck with your research. FD
Thank you, very helpful information.
