What is living on Russell island actually like?? Help!!!

After 7 years living here, firstly as a renter then a homeowner, I can say it is a great place to live. We pretty much have what we need so trips to the mainland are pretty rare. We have made numerous good friends and despite what you may read in some threads, never been been attacked by rabid ferals or drug crazed zombies. Our social life here is the best it has been compared to anywhere we have lived in the past.
The climate here is better than say Brisbane usually being a few degrees cooler in summer and the opposite in winter and all summer we are blessed with gentle cooling sea breezes. We have a pretty good set of clubs, RSL, Bowls, Fishing, Art and craft, even a car club, to name a few.
If you are considering relocating here, try renting for a while to see what you make of it. Oh, and if you like fish and crabs, life will be good for you, the fishing and crabbing here is excellent.
