"The Lawns of St Mary’s"

Lured to the area by the cheap fixer-uppers on large blocks of land. My husband and I, toured vastly across the area. We couldn’t help but notice the distinct feature of the area - the abundance of unkept lawns. Infact, the local council doesn’t mow either as not to distract from this outstanding feature. Clearly, Jim’s lawn mowing or any purveyor of lawn mowers would not survive here. If you enjoy living in the jungle, and think being house proud is severely overrated. Move here!

Looking for a home in St Marys?

"Convenient!"

It's more affordable than Penrith still have most of the amenities nearby and expected to grow as the North-South new airport rail line is gonna start there.
Commuting eastward has the advantage of vicinity to M4 which is getting wider and faster even though the express train is available during the rush hours.

"Raine and Horne St Marys"

I was a tenant for 5 years, in that time it was nothing but drama - It took 2 years , calling weekly to never get a call back and contacting their regional office to get them to come back in contact with me for a list of over 12 repairs done - some of which still were not attended to when moving out !

For those renting - please please please do not go through these guys ! Save yourself the mental anguish . Partcuarly if Christine or Lorna are the property managers - I’ve never met anyOne so rude in all my life! They’d make appointments to inspect or send a repairman - no one would show up, you’d call and they will never accept fault. They never would call back when they say they would and just carried themselves very unprofessionally .

3 months of being out I only just got my bond back today . My one star is for their one star Lisa who explained to me a lot of the things I would of liked explained to me prior that my 2 property managers should of done - but the fact they didn’t doesn’t surprise me in the slightest - that would mean doing their job which between those 2 and the reception staff wouldn’t know how to do even if it counted between life and death .

And to landlords please think twice before signing up unless you want a 3rd grade real estate managing your property. Still to this day and into my old age if anyone asks me for real estate views I will always state how disgusted I am by raine and Horne St Marys .

Rentals in St Marys

"Colourful"

The site of probably the most homophobic rants in Australian history. Sadly, in 2017, the name of God was used by Mr Fisher to further vilify minorities here. Whilst it was certainly not the first time a minority was discriminated against here, it was certainly one of the most colourful and noteworthy.

"Happening area"

Decent area with lot's of shop's, well serviced by public transport, & has a nice park. Constantly growing as it is located close to Badgery's Creek Airport & all the jobs it will bring. Also close to Penrith & Parramatta.

It has everything-schools, banks, gyms, cafs, good value eateries, chemists, doctors, dentists, newsagents, supermarkets..etc within short walking distance. With residential apartment style living on the rise, more people are moving to the area as it is affordable & convenient.

"Always improving"

An area that is improving. There are a few dodgy people around, but that is the case in most places now days, and most people in the area are actually decent. There are several new residential developments being built in the area, which provide the perfect opportunity for first home buyers to get into the market, as prices are still reasonable and first home buyers get the FHOG and stamp duty exemptions. With the green light given for Badgerys Creek airport and a proposed railway line from St Marys station to the airport then take note and secure a new property in St Marys NOW. There are also good opportunities for retailers, as there are several empty shops available on Queen Street. If you have great products and services to offer, and know how to keep your shop clean and presentable, then get in before someone else does, as this is the perfect opportunity to get into a growing area.

"Nice suburb"

Nice suburb with several new developments being built, perfect for first home buyers as they can get the first home owners grant, stamp duty exemption etc. Prices are still reasonable, so get in while you can! It is also worth noting employment opportunities in both Penrith and Parramatta are always increasing, and the local shopping centres are looking at expanding, so there may be more employment opportunities in St Marys itself.

"Nice growing suburb"

St Marys is a nice suburb that is growing, and it will only get better with the methadone clinic closing. Property is still reasonably affordable, with a new 2 br unit costing roughly $390K. Prices will go up though, as the council clean up and rejuvenate the area. For awhile it did not have the best reputation, but over the past few years there have been a number of residential developments completed that have not only brought more people into St Marys, but better people, and the people all seem pretty decent and care about their community.

"A Great place for First Home Buyers, Renters or Families"

St. Marys has evolved from a "Rough" bikie neighborhood in the '50 and 60's to a very Family Oriented
area.
The main street of St. Marys is Queen Street which has expanded to one of the largest shopping areas in the western suburbs of Sydney.

Having grown up in nearby Penrith, I have known the area for many years, it has everything a family could need, except the Smog and Bad Traffic that you must endure living closer to the city.

Do yourself and your family a favor and live where you can enjoy the open Fields, Parks and Trees.

"Far from Sydney but close to Penrith"

St. Marys is a good forty minutes' drive from Sydney via the M4 motorway. However, it is only a ten minutes' drive to Penrith. The most realistic way of getting to the city from St. Marys will be by train via the Western line and this journey can sometimes take up to an hour.

The main street of St. Marys is similar to other main streets in other western suburbs. You find your local businesses, shops, cafes, the occasional restaurant and your supermarkets. This street is quite small compared to its Penrith counterpart. There are definitely more houses in St. Marys than residential units. St. Marys just feels like typical suburbia and it is not a pretentious suburb.
