Reviews of Bondi, NSW

Editors Choice

"The beach that is known world wide."

Bondi has a name that has grown in stature over the years. One of Sydney's best surf beaches and most definitely one of the most popular. People visit Bondi Beach in their droves, especially the New Zealanders.

Real estate in Bondi is now very expensive and it attracts the rich and wealthy. There are no end of eateries, cafés, fine dining restaurants and bars along the front and up the streets of Bondi.

The beach is spectacular, not overly long by northern coast standards, but the beach area is wide and even on a busy day you can find a spot to sit. Very much the beach for the body beautifuls.

Both ends of the beach have a protected pool and at the northern end there is a children's wading pool.

There are highrise apartments along the front and on the hills at either end of the beach. From these apartments you would get fabulous views across the beach and beyond.

Bondi is the desired spot for locals and holiday makers alike. People from the west of Sydney will make the trip across to Bondi for the day, that is how popular it is.

"Amazing!"

Bondi, a world-renowned beach suburb in Sydney, offers a captivating blend of coastal beauty, vibrant energy, and cultural richness. My visit to Bondi was a delightful experience that exceeded expectations in every aspect. The iconic Bondi Beach, with its golden sands and azure waters, presents a postcard-perfect setting for sunbathing, surfing, or simply strolling along the promenade. The lively atmosphere, with beachside cafes, street performers, and locals soaking up the sun, creates an infectious sense of joy and relaxation.

Beyond the beach, Bondi boasts a thriving arts and dining scene. The Bondi Pavilion hosts art exhibitions, workshops, and live performances, showcasing the area's creative flair. From trendy eateries serving up fresh seafood to cozy bars offering craft cocktails with a view, Bondi's culinary offerings are diverse and enticing. Exploring the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk was another highlight, offering breathtaking coastal vistas, hidden coves, and the opportunity to soak in Sydney's natural beauty.

What truly made my visit to Bondi memorable was the sense of community and inclusivity. Whether chatting with locals at the Bondi Farmers Market, joining a yoga class by the beach, or simply people-watching at Campbell Parade, I felt a genuine warmth and welcoming vibe. Bondi's blend of natural splendor, cultural vibrancy, and friendly atmosphere makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the best of Sydney's coastal lifestyle.

"Snobs"

Latte sippers, rude, arrogant

Sounds like someone had a bad experience, though never seen a latte sipper or mocha thief but not willing to meet one. Bondi also is a beautiful place to go but you can only see the bad in things just like how I see the bad in you and your tasteless review. Next time don't write a mean comment like that about a nice place like Bondi. I am just pointing that out so don't get your knickers in a not. (no hate intended though):)

"Could be better if it werent for the obnoxious people."

Bondi used to be great but now its over crowded and filled with people are rude and obnoxious. Ive noticed I cant even walk down Blair st to get the shops without some rude narcacistic moron speeding up behind me to push me out of the way on the foot path or making some rude comment as they walk past. The boomers are really entitled around here too and little 12 year olds push and shove you at the shops. Its like people never got taught manners but then these rude shits will try to teach you manners if you call them out on it. Its easy to get a bad attitude around here towards people they’re that rude and you will start disliking people.

Plus the real estate is expensive its $600 for a 1 bedroom that doesnt even have a balcony and arent modern homes.

You go out and have all your wanna be kendal jenner or hailey beibers who boast about their YSL bags and women in their 50s that look like Yzma from emperors new grove because they have had way too much plastic surgery and their botox is sagging. Dont even get me started on the vegan hipsters.

"Bondi is empty in culture and quality"

I’ve lived in bondi for 6 years for work reasons. I hate the place. The traffic is horrible. The food is horrible and its priced as if Jamie Oliver made it. there’s no cosy or homeliness or character that other Sydney suburbs seem to have.

The beach is bad.. the sand banks rarely offer good surf, I’d give it an honest rating as the worst surfing beach I’ve ever seen by a long way. The fishing here is terrible no surprise.

The culture: there is none. bondi has no identity, it’s trying to be other places all at once. Theres lots of tourist and visitors permanently. there’s not really a community vibe here, if you search hard you can find one but it’s nothing compared to the rest of sydney. I feel like some of bondi is trying to pretend to be Orange County meets rich housewives and the other half is trying to pretend it’s a bushland surf town off the princess highway when it’s really just a brick eyesore where the city of Sydney dumps it’s sewage.

"Iconic suburb and with good reason"

Bondi is a beach suburb in Sydney, not far from the city. Excellent public transport, huge shopping centre at Bondi junction, great mix of people and everyone is in a relaxed mood.

I love coming to visit this place, the famous iceburgs where people swim all around the calender year even in the dead of winter, nice pubs, casual and formal dining as well a steady value in realestate, this suburb does not seem to have massive fluctuations in valules, just steady reliable increases and there is always loads of people at open hosues for properties for sale and rent.

The down side is you have to pay for parking if you live out of the area and it is expensive, no such thing as a free swim at this Aussie beach anymore, but if your a local then you are more than likely happy with this as you can walk everywhere and probably welcome less traffic.

An easy commute to the City, close to Randwick races, plenty of schools, a great Aussie suburb

Great investment but if you are going to live there, the cost of living is extreme.
this should be mentioned in a balanced assessment

broodon

blahdeeblah have you ever lived in Bondi? I don't think so, Bondi Junction is not part of Bondi, it is separate suburb, so you can't really say it has great shopping centres? Prices are ridiculously expensive for what you get. If you can afford, fair play, as it is an awesome place to live (lived there for around 3 years). Otherwise for the average Joe Blo, renting is the only option. Around $650 a week for a 2 bedder - I think that is a little on the expensive side.......

We're paying $620 for 1 bedder! but not anymore, moving away from Bondi after 10 years of living there. Too expensive for what you get. Apartments and houses are ancient and their prices keep going up. Unless you want to surf everyday, there's no point of living there.

We are moving to Sydney and looking for a good place to settle. Have 3 boys 9,10 and 12 all into soccer. Is Bondi a good place. What about primary schools and high schools. My husband working in CBD in the financial sector and me managing my own health coaching business. Please give me some tips.

Hi, there are MANY schools around Bondi. But, there is also a lot of public transport (TRAINS) that can get you literally anywhere. Hop on at bondi junction station and you have the ENTIRE Sydney in your hands. So technically speaking you can send your kids anywhere in Sydney. I reckon there are so many good schools near Bondi too, if you are that type of person. 10/10 would recommend living here. The beach is really rad too, been there a million time. xx

"Worst beach in Sydney!!!"

I grew up in Bondi and lived there for 30 years. I moved out because of the constant influx of euro-trash every summer. The beach itself is one of the worst beaches in Sydney. Try the Northern Beaches - so much prettier!!

"Suburban Bondi"

The suburb of Bondi is in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and is located 7 kilometres east of the CBD in the local government area of Waverley Council. It is bounded by Bondi Beach to the East, Tamarama, Bronte and Waverley to the South, Bondi Junction to the west and North Bondi to the north. It has a population of about 9,200, 14½% of whom are under 18 and 27% of whom are over 60.

It is mainly a residential suburb with mostly high and medium density housing. There is a shopping strip along Bondi Road but the neighbouring commercial suburb of Bondi Junction would be the place where most residents do their shopping.

The schools in the suburb are the Bondi Public for primary school kids and a Montessori School for preschool and primary children. Older children would need to travel to neighbouring suburbs for school.

Being quite an old area there are many historic buildings in different architectural styles – Victorian terraces, Federation buildings, etc.

Bondi is home to the Waverley Rugby Union Club which has a team competing in the New South Wales Suburban Rugby Union Competition.

Bondi is a nice suburb nestled between the busier centres of Bondi Beach and Bondi Junction.

"An ideal spot for beach lovers"

Bondi is one of Sydney's upmarket suburbs located east of the city centre. The area is full of cafes, restaurants, bars, and takeaways shops, so you'll never go hungry! But there are also plenty of surf and souvenir shops too. Take a stroll on the broadwalk to discover some stunning beaches from Bondi to Coogee where you can have a swim or relax at a cafe along the way. You can also swim at the Bondi Icebergs surf pool which is one of Sydney's iconic locations. Have a gelato at the 1920s Bondi Pavillon or enjoy the sunset with great ocean views while you dine at various restaurants at Bondi Beach. There's also surfing lessons available for those who wish to learn how to surf, or you can just watch, and even participate in the Bondi lifeguards lifesaving demonstrations. Bondi is basically a place that is relaxed, carefree and full of sunshine.

"Bondi -"Where the City meets the Surf""

Bondi Beach is famous and known worldwide. The arc shaped beach is normally fairly safe, being patrolled by both paid and volunteer life savers. The parkland near the beach attracts many visitors enjoying a picnic most of the year. The backdrop to the beach is an amazing array of cafes, restaurants and retail shops. There is a great nightlife with several venues with live entertainment. Accommodation is available in hotels, apartments and guest houses. Bondi has become very cosmopolitan with many overseas visitors. It is now quiet expensive to buy real estate in Bondi and rental prices have skyrocketed with the demand ever increasing. Still it is a great place to live or visit and will keep you coming back.
