Coburg, VIC 3058

You can't get much better in terms of access to trams, buses and trains, with a drive to the city taking only around 30 minutes through Royal Parade and airport in 20 minutes through the freeway. Close vicinity to shopping hubs and restaurants along Sydney Road, High Street, Bell Street, Preston Markets and Northland Shopping Centre.

Not sure how the levels of crime compares to other suburbs. Have had no direct issues with the community and residents here, however it is worth noting that there are a considerable amount of drug-affected and homelessness around Coburg, especially on Sydney Road and on board the trams. Our building complex has also been broken into multiple times and reports of other break-ins are common. Overall good community feel with events every now and then in the local parks as well as markets and social get-togethers.

After coming from London to Melbourne in 1980 and being well used to a multicultural environment, Coburg is a breath of fresh air. It should be used as an example world wide as to how multiculturalism can and indeed works. Love the many choices of eateries, Coburg Lake and the picturesque Merri Creek pathway which stretches for miles. I'm dreading the prospect of having to downsize away from here.

Melbourne's multicultural hub must be Coburg - If you cant the find a cuisine in Coburg, it probably doesn't exist.
Coburg farmers market and night market are a must to check out if you love fresh food! Enjoy old style entertainment at the drive in check in to on the many events and the Coburg Velodrome.
The people are very friendly and the streets are wide making it a great place to raise a family.
Three tram lines and two train stations, with easy access to Melbourne airport via the freeway getting around or getting away is easy.

We live on the border of Coburg and Brunswick East and just love it here. It is quieter and more spacious than Brunswick East but still get a bit of its trendy and hipster style. Public transport is excellent and merri creek is at doorstop. People are very friendly and lots of them are long-term residents/owners. Lots of shops and restaurants. This area is esp. good for those who work in city.

Coburg doesn't have much happening apart from the High Street. The suburb is dull and not particularly safe.

Coburg hasn't got much to offer, and yet seems to be highly rated by people. I don't understand why. It feels very boxed in, basically a boring suburban area.

We love in nearby fawkner and frequents Coburg a lot. It’s really nice and getting more trendy by the day.

Stop winging previous reviewers and cut the racist remarks. It's a Great, multicultural suburb where the old and the new mix well. Great public transport, funny old shops that have not been yuppified like Brunny. I grew up in London and have lived in some pretty "posh" locations over the years plus have travelled to over 30 countries and believe you me Coburg is a bloody fabulous place to be. I've been here 11 yrs and 5 in Brunny prior and have to say I would not want to live anywhere else - ESP the upmarket,soulless E suburbs. COBURG ROCKS!

Safe and great housing. The council don't look after much for the quality of streets however the residents maintain the surrounding very well. In my 7 years observation and experience I have lived in a safe and good neighbouring.
Roads around Coburg library needs to be improved, walking with a pram becomes very hard. Shops in coburg should not sell outside of their shops on the street. The fruit&vegetable displayed on the street looks bad to the eye and eventually leaves a smell and catches many fly when you shop around.
