Eastwood is a busy hub full of nice restaurants and shops in its "strip" but yet has wonderful leafy residential area. Great local public primary schools such as Deniston East and Eastwood Public and close to some of the top public high schools (James Ruse, Epping Boys and Cheltham Girls) around the area, not to mention Macquarie University. Not far from major shopping centres such as Macquarie and the newly redeveloped Top Ryde City as well as Chatswood. Fast train service can get you to Central in just over 20 mins at its best. Plenty of buses to connect you to the rest of Sydeny as well. I have lived here for 20 years and highly recommend this little gem of a place. Great community feel with mostly down to earth residents compare to the "snobs" of North Shore. The only problem is finding parking around the shopping area on a busy weekend.

Good and convenient but overly expensive and crowded compared with other suburbs. Parking is a nightmare sometimes.

The stand out feature of Eastwood is the tranquility, it's very quiet (with the exception of the freight trains that come across once in a while) and peaceful. The quality of the restaurant food is really great and they have multiple cafes which serve excellent coffee. There is a Korean side and Chinese side from my experience both which offer great food. Eastwood is quite leafy as well. In addition to this, there appears to be only a single apartment complex thats about 7 or 8 levels high. Surrounding apartments in the nearby area are at most 4 levels high (not including carpark). I believe this is something that isn't spoken about much but is great if you like a suburb with lots of trees and greenery.

Relatively safe compared to a majority of NSW suburbs. To be fair, I have visited Eastwood more than 100 times and have only seen a single event where a bloke was causing commotion calling others racist there. However, this one single incident could happen anywhere. I've been at night many times and within a 10 minute walk radius of the station i've seen mothers and/or fathers walking their young children.

Location is good as well, ~30 minutes from CBD by train but you have access to major shopping centres all of which are about 20 minutes drive away (Parramatta, Macquarie and Chatswood). I would not recommend it for young professionals who seek the fast lifestyle and amazing nightlife but that would be available at the CBD with a 30 minute uber ride :)

In terms of pricing, it does seem to have a bit of a premium price in you plan on purchasing a property here. The surrounding suburbs are a good percentage cheaper from my own research. However, rental pricing is decent.

Overall it's a really fantastic suburb.

A friendly and safe suburb in a good location. The Shopping Centre and central area near the station needs to be updated.

Eastwood is a lovely village 30 minutes northwest of the Sydney CBD. It has a very far east asian feel- loads of markets, friendly people, family owned businesses, traditional restaurants etc. The main mall area is bustling with life and has many community events like outdoor cinema and Taiwanese night markets. It has an incredible smell of bbq every night which envelopes the whole mall, wetting your appetite and inspires you to go do some shopping at the local butcher (well one of the MANY) to cook up a storm at home.

On the other side of the train line is the Korean side, which is also a marvel- playing host to numerous Korean restaurants, grocery stores and late night coffee shops. It has a bustling- family friendly night life that is inclusive and vibrant. The sort of night life you would find in Asia. Grab a matcha, or tuck into some late night Korean bbq, its the sort of late night culture that is void of the seediness that has destroyed the Sydney CBD.

Great for kids especially with the good schools nearby. just a train ride to the city.

Very vibrant with so many specialty shops and restaurants and a vast array of traditional cuisines, the schools are one of the best in NSW and the area itself is very peaceful and relaxing with very low crime rate.
The house prices are ready to soar in the next 2 to 3 years and there isn't enough properties to fulfil one's need.

Overall one of the best northshore suburbs in NSW.

Would love to live in Eastwood.

This suburb used to be invested as dorm area for MQ students. This is the main reason why this area's unit/apartment prices so high with big difference to its real value.

This place with good parks like lane cove national etc. And people do enjoy recreation life here, but the public transport will rely on several bus lines and you need change train at MQ or Epping station which will add extra cost to you.

This place is poor for the mobile signal reception, only Telstra's customer can get high quality signal. And this place does not have interesting places to eat in.

nearby has in the last 20 years developed into a massive business centre, with the likes of Optus and Goodman Fielder being headquartered there. Add to the mixture of technology based companies is the Macquarie University Campus and associated student accommodation options, and the Macquarie Shopping Centre (Myer, Big W, Target, Woolworths, Franklins and specialty stores). In February 2009 the Macquarie Uni train station, a stop on the new Epping to Chatswood was opened. in the near future, the new hospital and the new update Macquarie Shopping Town will be a big plus

Have lived here for 4 years. Nice neighborhood. Has express trains to the city and buses but not as crazy as Epping which is the next stop. Pretty complete except maybe for a bigger shopping mall but that will change as Eastwood centre is about to be redeveloped and a new shopping centre with an Aldi's is set to go up on the "Korean" side of Rowe sometime this or next year. (Don't really want a huge mall which would attract "outsiders".) We already have a Franklin's and a Woolies, 6 bakeries and heaps of asian supermarkets, fish and meat shops. Eastwood is one of the minority of suburbs with a hospital, a library, a fire station and a police station in close proximity. Lots of medical and dental offices and more hairdressers than you can shake a stick at.. We have a soccer/rugby field, croquet, cricket fields and three very nice playgrounds for kids. Oh, there's also a lawn bowling club nearby Have got 7 cafes and lots of Asian restaurants - some close at 1 am . How many suburbs can say that? Eastwood has all that but still feels very leafy and quiet. In terms of crime, it's pretty low. You've got kids hanging out at night - asians and whites. I suspect some of them are not from Eastwood. I occasionally see cops in hiphop clothes checking them out. Demographics wise, Eastwood has become increasingly Asian - Chinese, Korean and some South Asian with few Middle Easterners. Whites I'd say are about 50% of the population, many of them elderly. Property prices have been going up steadily. A 1 bedder in the new development I mentioned earlier will be around 425k.

Great atmosphere and friendly neighbourhood. An excellent investment for expected increases in median house prices. One of the most well respected areas in the Northern suburbs.

Marsfield is approximately 30 minutes north west of the CBD. The suburb offers very leafy quiet streets with friendly neighbours. It is a very safe area with mainly middle income earning couples, families and singles.

Because Marsfield is so close to Macquarie university, much of the area is used as student accommodation. Transport is conveniently serviced by numerous buses that go to Epping, the City, Eastwood, Parramatta and Chatswood. Access to the city is via Epping Road and can get quite congested in the mornings around peak hour. But a smooth run to the city can take as little as 20 minutes if the Lane Cove Tunnel and Harbour Bridge is utilised.

Marsfield is also the catchment area for Epping Boys' High School, a high achieving public school. With easy access to Macquarie Centre, it offers those with a taste for retail therapy or just a place to grab a bite to eat or relaxing day at the cinemas a place to escape.

In terms of capital growth Marsfield has been quite steady. With many townhouses and units, it is a good place to invest and the demand for rental from the university students are quite high and the rental return is excellent.

Eastwood is a bustling suburb brimming with fantastic Asian restaurants and groceries. It has everything you need in a small place, 6 or 7 medical centres, fire station, police station, dentists, optometrists, large supermarkets including Franklin and Woolworths, pet shops, fashion stores, cafes and a good nightlife.

With easy access of Macquarie Centre and Macquarie University, Eastwood is located 30 minutes North West of the CBD. It is the epitemy of convenience being serviced by numerous buses and is a main stop for trains on the Northern Line. Access to the city is via Epping Road which would take you quickly to the Harbour Bridge or Tunnel to the CBD.

In terms of schools, Eastwood primary is one of the best primary schools in New South Wales with a class for gifted children and parts of Eastwood is the catchment area for Epping Boys High, a high achieving boys' high school.

Eastwood offers numerous parks, quiet streets, friendly neighbours, fares and festivals. A middle income earning suburb and perfect for families, couples, retirees and even singles.

In terms of investment, Eastwood has seen a stead rise in property prices, with capital growth of 30 to 40% over the last 10 years. The market value of properties in the area is quite stable and holds their value. I believe it has even greater potential in future as demand has already outstripped supply. However, the area is already out of the reach of many first home purchasers if you are looking for a free standing house.

Eastwood is a fantastic suburb with a great shopping district. The centre has a real community feel and is positively bustling with people. The area is fantastic in particular for asian cusine (particularly Korean and Chinese, as they are the dominant ethnic groups) and cheap produce. The housing in the area caters for all budgets and needs.

For families there are plenty of gorgeous decorative federation era housing along quiet, tree lined streets, while for those with more modest budget and family size there are plenty of inexpensive unit blocks, particularly on the eastern side of the railway line.

Eastwood station is incredibly convenient, and one of the major stations on the Northern Line. It's not hard to catch inter-urban trains which stop at select stations of interest from Eastwood, making getting around Sydney (particularly to Central, Strathfield, Epping, Macquarie University/Park or the Central Coast) a much more convenient prospect from Eastwood. Note plenty of buses stop at Eastwood station which provide convenient options to get around the region.

Eastwood and the surrounding region also boast some of the best schools in NSW and indeed the country. Close by is James Ruse Argricultural High School (public selective school), literally the best school in the state by far, as measured by HSC performance. Other good schools near by include Marist College Eastwood (all boys Catholic school), not far from central Eastwood, and Epping Boys High School. Furthermore, the new railway link makes it a piece of cake to get to Macquarie University for your tertiary educational needs.

Eastwood is one of those astonishing suburbs that manages to mix quiet, attractive leafy tree lined streets with period houses on big blocks with a bustling commercial district, higher density housing options and fantastic public transport. In Eastwood, you can have your cake and eat it too.

close to Macquarie University, Macquarie Shopping Centre and hig tech companies head office, lots of greens, over 20% of the land cover by greens.

Eastwood is great. Express train services to the city and Central Coast. Quick access to Chatswood via Epping on the train. Buses every 10 minutes which go to Parramatta or Chatswood 5:10am untill 11:55pm Monday to Sunday. Eating out is good, close to Top Ryde shopping centre. Eastwood has a really nice mall with the best and cheap Meat & Veg in Ryde. Close to Macquaire Uni.

Eastwood has always been a performing suburb with all the right ingredients: great public transport, affordable asian groceries, close to universities, good schools, dining, etc...

The only risk Eastwood faces in the long term (10+ years) is if it becomes a mono asian culture which may develop asian gangs when Eastwood becomes a bigger city, just like we see in the city now... Right now it has the reputation of being semi chinese and semi Korean but the reality is there are quite a mix of people who live there... check suburb profile on link below:

Eastwood is a very happening suburb. It is not as big as the likes of larger suburbs such as Parramatta but has a shopping centre that gives you plenty of choice and lots of bargains. There is an obvious concentration of Korean and Chinese restaurants. These restaurants offer different varieties from different parts of China. You have Northern Chinese, Hong Kong cuisines, Macau, Szehuan and etc. The parking can get rather congested on the weekends with all the shoppers coming to this area to stock up on their weekly groceries.The claypot rice restaurant is one of the best claypot rice restaurants in Sydney, so give that one a definite try.

Marsfield has become a very popular student accommodation location for those attending Macquarie University. It is also home to several nursing homes and retirement villages. While there are sections of the suburb with some large and impressive homes, the main roads are lined with bland, medium to high density accommodation. A Woolworths supermarket on Epping Road is popular for day to day supplies, with Macquarie Shopping Centre nearby. Transport to the city is either via by bus or train from Macquarie Uni.
