Eastwood is a busy hub full of nice restaurants and shops in its "strip" but yet has wonderful leafy residential area. Great local public primary schools such as Deniston East and Eastwood Public and close to some of the top public high schools (James Ruse, Epping Boys and Cheltham Girls) around the area, not to mention Macquarie University. Not far from major shopping centres such as Macquarie and the newly redeveloped Top Ryde City as well as Chatswood. Fast train service can get you to Central in just over 20 mins at its best. Plenty of buses to connect you to the rest of Sydeny as well. I have lived here for 20 years and highly recommend this little gem of a place. Great community feel with mostly down to earth residents compare to the "snobs" of North Shore. The only problem is finding parking around the shopping area on a busy weekend.

Good and convenient but overly expensive and crowded compared with other suburbs. Parking is a nightmare sometimes.

The stand out feature of Eastwood is the tranquility, it's very quiet (with the exception of the freight trains that come across once in a while) and peaceful. The quality of the restaurant food is really great and they have multiple cafes which serve excellent coffee. There is a Korean side and Chinese side from my experience both which offer great food. Eastwood is quite leafy as well. In addition to this, there appears to be only a single apartment complex thats about 7 or 8 levels high. Surrounding apartments in the nearby area are at most 4 levels high (not including carpark). I believe this is something that isn't spoken about much but is great if you like a suburb with lots of trees and greenery.

Relatively safe compared to a majority of NSW suburbs. To be fair, I have visited Eastwood more than 100 times and have only seen a single event where a bloke was causing commotion calling others racist there. However, this one single incident could happen anywhere. I've been at night many times and within a 10 minute walk radius of the station i've seen mothers and/or fathers walking their young children.

Location is good as well, ~30 minutes from CBD by train but you have access to major shopping centres all of which are about 20 minutes drive away (Parramatta, Macquarie and Chatswood). I would not recommend it for young professionals who seek the fast lifestyle and amazing nightlife but that would be available at the CBD with a 30 minute uber ride :)

In terms of pricing, it does seem to have a bit of a premium price in you plan on purchasing a property here. The surrounding suburbs are a good percentage cheaper from my own research. However, rental pricing is decent.

Overall it's a really fantastic suburb.

A friendly and safe suburb in a good location. The Shopping Centre and central area near the station needs to be updated.

Excellent place to hang out and eat. A convenient train station and bus station to travel around.

Eastwood is a lovely village 30 minutes northwest of the Sydney CBD. It has a very far east asian feel- loads of markets, friendly people, family owned businesses, traditional restaurants etc. The main mall area is bustling with life and has many community events like outdoor cinema and Taiwanese night markets. It has an incredible smell of bbq every night which envelopes the whole mall, wetting your appetite and inspires you to go do some shopping at the local butcher (well one of the MANY) to cook up a storm at home.

On the other side of the train line is the Korean side, which is also a marvel- playing host to numerous Korean restaurants, grocery stores and late night coffee shops. It has a bustling- family friendly night life that is inclusive and vibrant. The sort of night life you would find in Asia. Grab a matcha, or tuck into some late night Korean bbq, its the sort of late night culture that is void of the seediness that has destroyed the Sydney CBD.

Great for kids especially with the good schools nearby. just a train ride to the city.

Great area, great people, very happy. Just renovated our home here and expect to be here for a long time.
