"Heidelberg Heights has really changed"
Old houses are quickly being turned into new modern townhouses with professional couples and families. This is a great suburb to buy a property and move to if you enjoy the lifestyle of living in a townhouse or lowrise neighbourhood. Property prices are expected to rise significantly from 2023 onwards and the completion of new townhouses is accelerating this change.

"Quiet, Family Focused, Close to Everything"
What's not to love. Can get a decent size block still at a location that is incredible. Close to Heidelberg, Rosanna, Ivanhoe - approx 12km from CBD. Can get into the action easily but still get away.
It's quiet and family friendly. People wave and smile at one another in the streets. Love walking down to Crate cafe and going to the park with our daughter.
Would 100% recommend buying here if you can. Plenty of development happening, so would expect this area to continue to get better.

"Central to all things important"
Having been a Bayside and fringe city dweller for 10+ years, moving 12km to the inner northeast of Heidelberg Heights was a daunting thought. How wrong I was. I've been here for nearly 4 years.
This area has and is still undergoing a lot of housing renovations/redevelopment so the look of the area is improving significantly and for those slow to move in, will miss out on reasonable prices and great price growth. The big plus, the median price in Heidelberg Heights sits ~$800K for 3br, key neighboring suburbs (Ivanhoe, Heidelberg, Preston), that price becomes ~$1-1.2+ million. The location is very central to all kinds of amenities.
The suburb sits right in the middle of Ivanhoe shops, Burgandy St shops, Northland, Rosanna and Macleod village shops, and Bell St businesses. Preston market and High St shops and nightlife is a short drive and Westfield Doncaster is 15-20mins away.
Austin Hospital and other medical businesses are only a few minutes drive away.
Latrobe Uni and sporting grounds are close by too.
The newly redeveloped Rosanna station is a short drive and only ~25min train ride to Flinders St Station.
The Haig Townhouse development on Haig St is the place to be, there is a lovely park in the middle of the development for family, friends, or community catch up and the adjoining Crate Coffee shop is a hidden gem. All-in-all, Heidelberg Height is a culturally rich and diverse mix of old originals, family-friendly and young professional residents who all make it feel like home and I couldn't be happier with how central it is to all things important.

"Great for growing families and kids"
Been living here for almost 2 years and we love it. 5 min walk to great coffee shops (crate, chairman or sunnyside) and great farmers market on Sunday’s at Latrobe University (5min drive). Friendly childcare and primary school options as well as accessible to the best high schools in the North.
Commute to the city in about 25mins from Rosanna, which has plenty of parking or is walkable in 15mins. Northland is also 5mins away and there are heaps of parks nearby as well.
If you can find a free standing house, you’ll get a decent sized block, which is rare in the surrounding suburbs for comparable prices.

"Quiet, friendly suburb great for families"
We moved here from living in Prahran for 2 years to grow our little family. We have been here 4 years and love it. The streets are safe and cafes are close by, with just a small walk to the closest train station or bus. Takes only 5 mins to get to the main shopping area of Northland or 30mins by foot and plenty of playgrounds and Darebin Trail close by. We haven't made use of the University but it's close by and there's a lovely market there every sunday. Being just right next to Rosanna we pop down to the parklands for dog walks.
There is also a great Facebook group for this area - Rosanna, Heidelberg and Ivanhoe, where we have found our community just amazing as we share in information, news, advice, household goods and favours to each other. People here are genuine, not snobby and very friendly. You will find that people often just chat to each other at the playgrounds.

"Great discovery close to the city"
I cannot speak more highly of this little treasure of a suburb! The rate of development is a little overwhelming and any areas that had some shady elements are fast disappearing. Lots of new developments are under way, which is bringing in families and young people looking for afffordable housing close to the city (13km)
There is a number of great parks dotted around and cafes popping up all over.
You can walk to Rosanna station (25mins to the city) and Northland and we have Heidelberg and Ivanhoe shops a quick drive away.
I would say if you are interested in moving here, do it quickly, the prices are increasing very fast and will leave many people unable to afford the area soon.

"Quiet and family oriented area that continues to improve"
Have been living here for 18 months, and to be honest was a bit unsure of what to expect. I have had no problems - but the opposite, and have seen a drastic improvement in the area in this time, with development and renewal of property. Very quiet area and amenable neighbours. The council have pledged to renew the local parks and add more trees. Very close to Northland, walking distance to Rosanna/Heidelberg stations, close to Ivanhoe and Rosanna shopping precincts. Also close to Rosanna parklands for a lovely stroll or run. Some houses continue to lower the look and feel of the neighbourhood, as they do not maintain their houses so well. School options are limited and with increasing population it will be interesting how the state government will cater for students. That being said, many public and private school options in next door suburbs. However, am confident this will change in time. Though Heidelberg Heights and Heidelberg West have typically had a poor reputation, I have to say none of my experience has reflected people's views, and rather, people do not actually know what they're talking about! Big shout out to the local cafes (Crate, The Chairman Caf) creating a lovely feel for the community. Onward and upward!

"On the way..."
Heidelberg heights is on the improve and is currently great value for money. This suburb still has a way to go and lacks a little in the transport options but ll in all should see much improvement over the next ten years or so (already evident in the amount of development in the area).

"An ever improving, extremely convenient suburb"
I've lived in Heidelberg Heights now for over six years and I've seen some far reaching changes to the suburb. Many of the older places have either been renovated or knocked down and replaced with modern houses. This is one of the most convenient places I have ever lived. It's so close to La Trobe Uni, the Austin and Mercy Hosptals (two of the larger employers in the Northern suburbs), Northland and Ivanhoe shopping. I never have to travel more than a couple of kilometres for anything I need.

"Great for singles and couples"
I lived in Heidelberg Heights for 6 years. While it was great when it was just my wife and I, once the children arrived we never really felt safe. Walks to the local park always involved glances over the shoulder to ensure there were no suspicious characters following, as we had encountered some strange people in the area over the years. Having said that we only had 1 car break in and the neighbours were very friendly and it is super close to all amenities. If neighbouring West Heidelberg could get its act together we probably would never have moved from the area.

"Great place to live and make money!"
I've lived in Heidelberg Heights for 17 years, I travel a lot and love coming home to Melbourne and this suburb, quiet, large block, lots of trees, local to most things, easy access to the city and freeways, east and west, not to mention the prices here are really good and affordable at the moment but I don't think for much longer, the prices are jumping in leaps and bounds... If you want a good suburb close to everything get in now before it becomes unaffordable to the average family!

"Close to the city and cheap houses"
A great place to live, nice and close to the city. Northland Shopping Center is close by and there's plenty of strip shops to choose from at Ivanhoe, Heidelberg or Rosanna. Everything is within a minutes drive. Lots of variety with local restaurants and the Austin Hospital is on your doorstep if u need it. House prices are still cheap when compared to neighbouring suburbs. Lots of young professionals are moving in.

Wow you have made HH sound like a dream. As a renter - it was good, until it suddenly wasn't. Be careful where you choose to rent or buy here... HH has good pockets and some shockingly horrible neglected council housing pockets...People are just left to fend for themselves in a syringe riddled, literal wasteland. Then of course, they become everyone else's problem because the local government does absolutely nothing to change this.
