I lived here since 2014, and loved it…close to city,parramatta,dfo,sydney olympic park is just minutes Away which is great for picnics and have amazing parks…very safe day and night…

If you are a family with children, this would be a great place to re-locate to. There are so many great schools available.

It's so convenient! cose to pretty much everything.. wanna go city.. go Parramatta.. no problem! and it's proximity to Olympic park, DFO, IKEA and Sydney market. Good access to public transport as well... well can't complain! Shopping centres, Rhodes, Lidcombe, burwood or Strathfield are only 7-10 mins drive!

Suitable for young working couples, family who wants to save time on travelling and enjoy life.. there is no better suburb and so affordable still!

Homebush West is a big suburb. The main residential area is in the southeast, south of the railway station.

THE GOOD: Charming village centre with an East/South East Asian vibe, due to the concentration of those communities in the market garden trade centred on Flemington markets nearby. This means great Asian restaurants, colourful grocery stores, and conveniently concentrated services such as doctors and pharmacies. One of the best dim sum wholesalers in Sydney is here, too. Residential streets are leafy, lot of parks and playgrounds. Easily accessible to the great schools in neighbouring Homebush and Strathfield. Easy access to A3 and M4 roads.

THE BAD: The residential area is mostly unit blocks, and feels too dense for the narrow street grid. It has major roads on two sides, the railway on the third. Arthur Street/A3 intersection is always congested. The new developments west of A3 are also noisy and feel a bit cut off because of the big roads, railway and industrial areas.

Excellent suburb, close to Sydney CBD, Paramatta CBD, Olympic park, DFO, IKEA and Sydney market. Good access to public transport as well.

Shopping centres at Rhodes, Lidcombe, Burwood and Strathfield are only 5-10 mins drive.

I’ve been renting for about 2 months on Henley Road, Homebush West having originally lived on Kembla Street, Croydon Park for over 10 years.

The Good
Few minutes walk to Flemington Station, popular Vietnamese restaurants and Asian groceries, newly built Hudson Park and other nearby parks are great for a jog/walk or to take the kids/dog to, Hudson Park Golf Driving Range and Flemington markets are nearby.

The Bad
Vehicle noise from Henley Road, Arthur Street and Centenary Drive.
Vehicle congestion at times at the intersection of Arthur Street and Henley Road.
Some dodgy/trashy looking houses on some streets.

Homebush West is the official extremity of the Inner West - which for some people means the western-most habitable point of Sydney. But it's still perfectly liveable. Homebush West village, south of Flemington station, is really great. It's one of those slow paced but vibrant, colourful and most importantly useful little villages you'd think are everywhere in Sydney, but are actually really hard to find. Admittedly it's very heavily Southeast and South Asian focussed, but if you are after Asian groceries, dim sums or some fresh seafood to take home, or just to have a tasty meal, it's got all of that, without being too hectic like Burwood or Hurstville. And of course nothing in Sydney beats Flemington markets for produce. For residents, there are plenty of services in and around the village as well. The housing immediately around the village tends to be older style unit blocks - but solidly built. There are some nicer houses towards the border with Homebush and Strathfield in the east and south - also plenty of nice green spaces and playgrounds that straddle those borders. Be aware though that there is a weird corner of Homebush West around Courallie Avenue which is west of Homebush Bay Drive and north of the railway line. It's miles away from the rest of the residential suburb and cut off by highways, railways and the market. Courallie Avenue is (or used to be) fine, but somehow approval has been given to build a giant development in the most inaccessible corner of this patch, called Centenary Park, which is surrounded by railways and industrial land. If you are thinking of buying or renting in Centenary Park, beware and do your research. Don't be fooled by the post code - Centenary Park is basically in Lidcombe and you will get more for your money in actual Lidcombe.

Of all the unequivocal propositions I've come to terms with, I can affirm that Homebush West is about as far west as I would go for living in the Sydney CBD. Yet, this should not be classed, merely as a consequence of being the furthest of the inner west suburbs, as undesirable, as there are amenities just north, and the markets are supreme as always. In fact, it's intriguing to note that they dedicate a station to a region of this suburb - Flemington. Sydney Olympic Park provides one the latitude to perform intensive physical activity and for the sheer sake of leisure, which is why this is highly desirable for families. It is also recommended for professionals, as this suburb is in close propinquity to major business districts such as Strathfield, Burwood, Homebush and Concord. Strathfield, in turn, is a major interchange stop, so access to Macquarie University, the Upper North Shore shouldn't be all too difficult. Overall very good suburb that prides itself in its safety relative to its counterparts further out west.

Moved into Homebush West on Henley Road in late 2017 and have been really impressed with it.
It is a quiet, family oriented suburb with homely local shops full of Asian grocers, small restaurants and cafe's.
There quite a few parks and walks to go on in the ares for those who like to get outside inducing park exercise equipment, cricket nets, a golf range and a council run golf course.
You can also stroll over to Homebush for a few better cafes and restaurants and it is only two stops away from Strathfield for major grocery needs.
Has great access to Transport with Flemington train station and is located in the dead centre of Sydney allowing easy access by car to the north eastern suburbs, western suburbs and eastern suburbs.
The price of housing is relatively cheap and being part of Strathfield Council ensures that roads and amenities are well looked after.
Definitely recommend.

Hidden from the main roads Homebush West is a little piece of asia right here in Sydney. Much like its bigger counterparts in Eastwood and Cabramatta but in a smaller package, secreted behind the Sydney Markets.

The town centre is right next to the newly upgraded Flemington Train Station which now has both express and all stations trains to and from the city.

There's a diverse range of asian food from countries such as China / Vietnam / India. These include Dim Sim / Bakery (Vietnamese) / BBQ (Chinese) / Cafes (Vietnamese & Korean) / Traditional (Indian & Chinese) / Pho. Not to mention an array of shops filled with exotic fresh produce, products and spices.

There are large parks near the town centre with the incredible bicycle / foot paths of Olympic park only a short bicycle ride away.

Large shopping centres at Rhodes / Burwood / Strathfield / Lidcombe are only 5-10 mins drive away. The suburb is on an arterial section of motorway that accesses all points of the compass.

I've been a resident of the suburb for ten years and I'd highly recommend the area for young professionals and families.
