Kingsville, VIC 3012

We are a small safe suburb. A tiny pocket of lots of friendly neighbours with a mixed culture.
We are lucky to have our very own kingsville xmas carols and we rock Hallowean every year by far....All get involved.
We have our own Facebook neighbourhood watch, we have our weekend lemonade stands , we have house libraries (which is super cool) and lots of laneways were people have created artwork and murials to make them feel safe.

What an amazing suburb to live in!
Bought here two years ago and it was the best thing we have ever done

What an awesome inner west suburb. A great village feel with gorgeous homes and smack bang in between Seddon and yarraville. So much to offer for young families and foodies!! We moved from living in the south east holding our breath... turns out best decision we have ever made. Love Kingsville and the inner west!

I moved west about 12 years ago. Started in Seddon and watched the Victoria Street precinct area go from boarded up ghetto to one of the best eating strips in Melbourne. Had never considered Kingsville until someone drove me up and down its streets full of Edwardian houses which are now protected by heritage overlay and only 'destroyed' by the odd 'wog palace' from the 70's. We sold and moved the short distance. The streetscape is beautiful, the neighbours are lovely and the good eating and entertainment areas of Seddon and Yarraville are only a short distance away, as are local shopping centres, public transport and supermarkets etc. Yes, parking can be challenging at times but it is a gorgeous strip of Edwardian suburbia that has only just been discovered by the masses. Average block size in the prized heritage streets (first 5 streets including Queensville, Chirnside, Coronation, Empress and Wales) ranges from 270 sqm (ish) to the odd 350 sqm (ish). Still smallish, but bigger than a lot of the blocks in central Seddon and Yarraville. Developers can't move in, so you are not going to end up with ugly new build or townhouses next door - under heritage rules you must keep the front facade. However, behind the front door you can turn your lovely worker's cottage in to a modern family home.The streets and area have a lovely vibe and it is wonderful watching new people move in and restore the houses. I get a lot of interstate visitors who leave singing the praises of the suburb and it character, closeness to everything - my trip to the city for work takes 20 minutes door to door via the train. The only downside is that it is wedged between 3 main roads that are getting busier and busier. However, a series of one way streets and speed bumps keeps 'rat running' to a minimum.

I use to live in the South Eastern Suburbs and also Southbank. Kingsville has a lot to offer considering its so close to so much.
Kingsville is close to many shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, parks.
3 train stations to choose from and all in 1 km distance: Yarraville, Seddon and Footscray.

Very affordable, only 8km from the city, close to shops, cafes and transport - an all round great place to live!
Kingsville was established around the 1930's so has a lot of beautiful Victoria weatherboard house in tree-lined streets, with a couple of small parks. Most blocks in Kingsville have a backyard and/or outdoor entertaining area. There are also some very large blocks, particularly on Kingsville Street and Edgar Street, many of which are now being subdivided and redeveloped as townhouses. There are also numerous apartment blocks and you can pick up a one or two bedroom apartment for a steal, so something for everyone really! There is plenty of unrestricted on street parking and Cruickshank Park is close by if you fancy an early morning exercise session or need to walk the dog!
Most importantly, it's walking distance to Yarraville and Seddon villages, Yarraville Station and West Footscray Station, as well as the Yarraville Square supermarket. Petitou cafe on Somerville Road is fabulous and Red Tomato Pizza is also very good!
We bought in Kingsville because it's a nice area but, surprisingly, it remains one of the most affordable inner suburbs in Melbourne! I think it's affordability is attributable to to the fact that it is a relatively unknown suburb. However, with the inner west becoming a popular place for young professionals and families to buy, more and more people will want to live in the 'the pocket in the pocket'!

Kingsville? well actually it's always been West Footscray.
and the part over the freeway that was spotswood, it's rediculous to call it Kingsville!
But ok, if changing the name makes you happy, 'cos it does sound more trendy then west footscray aye? I think wes, kingsville, has improved a lot simply because of more community orientated residents then ever before.
the blocks though are small and the houses are squashed together, no driveways too in many streets, you fart and both neighbours hear it, but it's close to the city and all the benefits that yarraville and seddon have to offer.
