Reviews of Merriwa, WA
"Close to the beach, affordable"
I really enjoy living in Merriwa. I love to ride the bike to the beach, which is perfect for relaxing days by the water. The local primary school is fantastic, and having an IGA nearby makes grocery shopping so convenient. It’s a great place to call home.

"Brilliant suburb.underrated."
I love Merriwa ,very underrated suburb, very close to the beach, very quiet. I have lived here for 5 years and haven't had any problems. The only thing that would make it better would be the IGA shopping Centre needs renovations.

"A small quiet suburb"
Great quiet suburb good neighbors, close to everything, Freeway wanneroo rd Marmion ave Connolly dve The beach Mindarie marina multitude of shops and places to eat. The surrounding suburbs are full of undesirable people and snobs. Merrwa is a good place to live and offers affordable houses

Hey Maryn4, I'm looking to purchase in the area. Got any recommendations on the best pockets in the suburb?
"Merry merriwa"
I’m unsure why merriwa has a bad rap, lived here two years now with no problems what so ever. We are in a small culdesac and all the neighbours are friendly and very often all collect together out on our quiet road and the kids play and adults talk. Merriwa in my opinion is very under rated. Very happy with our purchase as houses are more affordable.

"Go ferral or Go home."
I'd avoid this suburb like the plague. Starting to become an old runned down area patrolled by bogans. If you want the Ratway of the North you've got it.

"Beware!"
People who rate this suburb are thick ,or in denial , probably both. Has an unhealthy population of undesirables, needs fencing off from other suburbs, ie Mindarie, Quinns etc.
We have lived in Merriwa for 12 years my children went to the local Primary School which was in walking distance and then to (which sadly is the only down fall in this part of the Northern Suburbs) the only Public High School in the Area which was also in walking distance.
You are close to Ocean Keys Shopping Centre and the convenience of IGA, you can walk to the end of the street and catch a bus to the train station which is 5 minutes away - if you work in Wangara Industrial area you are only 15 minutes away straight down Wanneroo Road or to a major Shopping Centre at Lakeside Joondalup.
I find Merriwa to be a great suburb we are grateful to have lived in a quiet and peaceful street with only local traffic and where the kids are able to play in the street with their friends.
The suburb will only get better as the housing is still affordable and if you want to renovate you can without over capitalizing as you would in other suburbs.
And what more can I say you are so close the beach you can almost smell it.....it's my reason for moving here!
Great for
- Access to public transport is great and only going to get better when the train line continues.
- Great parks/public open areas/nearby beaches
- Pick and choose a private school according to what YOU want - but be prepare to pay for it!
Not great for
- Only 1 Public High School for so many Public Primary Schools

"Great Place to Live"
I and my wife moved in here about 6 months back. Truelly loving this place. Cheaper than surrounding suburbs, yet school to all facilities. Jindalee beach to its right, Mindarie marina to its left, Quinns beach on a straight line. Well planned wide roads, two large parks (each having a size of a soccer field unlike many mini parks in surrounding suburbs). Nicely connected to hester ave that connects to wanneroo rd (marmion is simply too crowded). Walking distance to both private and public schools. Great place indeed.
