Reviews of San Remo, NSW
"Undiscovered gem"
It's a hidden gem, just 5 min drive to the sea. Conveniently located close to motorway; connections to Sydney and Newcastle without the cues like in Gorokan or Gosport. Nice lakeside walks and still affordable.

"Undiscovered"
Sydney hasn’t discovered our gem on the water. It’s still affordable and has all I need.

"Stayed here in an airbnb it was fantastic for our family"
We stayed for a week on the lake, it was so lovely. We kayaked on the river, kids went to the big bike park, we played in the huge oval near another park, fished and then ate fish and chips at another park! The big boat ramp was really lovely and the lake walk was beautiful. We will be back.

"We love living here"
We moved from Bateau Bay and have been renovating here for the past 2 years. We love it and have never had any issues. Our kids ride the track most arvos and we take the boat out almost every weekend except for during winter.

"Beautiful walking track, close to shops and private schools"
San Remo has had a full makeover in the last 15years. There are majority home owners and families that live here now. People are renovating everywhere. The walking track is fantastic and connects all the way to the Entrance now. It’s 10mins from three private schools, 5mins to Bunnings or Kmart/shops. The lake is gorgeous and the people are friendly. There are one or two streets in the whole suburb that have some issues but slowly these are becoming home owners as well. Great place to live.

"We like it"
We bought in San Remo "Heights" and moved here from South Western Sydney about 20 yrs ago, In that time house prices have been on a steady climb.
Never had a problem, big blocks with stunning lake views and a sea breeze, can also see the Lighthouse and a small patch of ocean on the horizon, very green, and lots of families.
Has an unfounded bad reputation, mainly from people that have never lived here, Guess that's good for investors though
A few have had problems here, but i think they're the one's that can't mind their P's and Q's...
Id never move anywhere else. I think in the future it will be very exclusive as people knock down old houses and build new ones to take in the views,
Cons, a few feral bogans here and there, but i always say "by the time they climb the hill they're to buggered to cause any trouble...

"Fair bit of trouble"
Its not that bad as in gangs and murders like other places in sydney but there are the drugs and ice heads being ice heads and kids doing burnouts all night and speeding up and down every street and fights just teens with nothing to do . The high school is not somewhere u would want your kid . Graffiti on every wall in the suburb

It dosent have as much graffiti as blue haven, as for the hoons yes they are driving through all the suburbs.
Was a great place back in 2002
"Noisey suburb with terrible local schools"
I have been in San Remo for 15 years - and recently moved. There is some terrible streets which cars roar through all night, graffiti almost everywhere, and rude, unfriendly neighbours in my experience.
The local primary and high school are terrible, you cannot go anywhere else as you are out of zone, rude teachers and disrespectful children. Local lake is filled with people drinking and smoking each afternoon/night and too many opportunities for people to speed and do burn outs. Overall hate the suburb. There is not many Rentals and pricing is very high.

Maybe you were the problem, my family and i have lived here for years and have never had any trouble
Everyone has different experiences! Just because you haven't had any trouble doesn't mean none else will.
This is a suburb review, giving experiences and ratings on suburbs. Not a battle between who had more trouble then the other or who has. Have a great day!
I lock my car doors when I have to drive thru San Remo .Late at night 9.30 pm + young kids riding push bikes on the road no lights no helmets, where are the parents? Graffiti every where.
We are a family of six we bought in san Remo about 20 years ago..people always have something to say about san remo.the only trouble in san remo are the ones that come through here.i have worked around at night no problems.some streets might not have guttering thats true but we have wide streets huge blocks, xtreme bike park, bike track around the lake ,oval, new park local shops the have fixed up the outlet.lake at one end of the st bush at the other end m1 5 minutes beach 5 mins.the high school is a very good high school over the last 5 years or so .my youngest was actually school captain a few years ago.my daughter also went there is at uni now studying to be a lawyer..they all did well at the high school.50 mins to Wahroonga I heard it all san druitt by the lake etc this suburb can not really be built up any more than it is.plus its not estate homes with no backyard and tiny streets ssn remo is in such are great place and we bought so cheap back then dont know where else would have lake ,bush,m1 so handy
"Diamond in the Rough"
When I told my family living in Sydney's West that I was selling my house in the Blue Mountains to move into my investment property in San Remo, I was faced with a total lack of understanding. "Why on earth do you want to move THERE?" and "But you don't have a job to go to. What are you going to do?", were a couple of the questions I faced. I just knew after visiting the area a few times that I'd found a spot on earth that made me feel good, and that was that.
Pros:
The neighbours (mostly retired) treated us like friends from the very first day that we were here.
A beautiful waterfront park just a short walk from everywhere offering the possibility to walk or ride a bike to the coast and the beaches.
It's impressive the way the residents look after the public areas, keeping them clean and tidy and making the complete area look like one big park.
"Around the corner" is just about everything you could possibly need/want: shopping possibilities, health services, recreational facilities in all sizes and variations.
Cons:
Some members of the younger generation are a little wild, spraying graffiti and keeping one awake late at night riding loud motorbikes and doing burnouts..... but where is it not like that these days?
been looking at san remo to buy, some people up that way tell me to stay away from it, but how bad can it be seriously, im from the worst parts of sydneys south west, so i wont be spooked by a few kids and a couple of burn outs.
I bought in San Remo a few years ago, from as an Investment point of you it's been amazing, great tennants, awesome capital growth & rent return, especially doing the granny flat thing. I like to do a few repairs my self, always felt safe & comfortable there. Coles & the local cafe was awesome. I was at Taree looking for an investment property, I couldn't get of there soon enough, I got yelled at by one of many of housing commission residents in the street. Al
