Best area to live in Queensland from the UK?

Hi, I am moving to Australia next year from the UK with my boyfriend on a working holiday visa. We plan to spend 2 years on the working holiday visa, then I would like to go to university (3 years) while my boyfriend does accountancy. We would ideally like to stay in the same place, so was wondering which is the best area in Queensland that has lots of job opportunities, good transport, close to the coast, close to a university (or easy to get to from) and not too expensive to live? I really like the look of the Gold Coast but I would like ideas. Please give me town names if you have any place you recommend. Thank you
