Want a nice place to move to from Rockhampton to either Northern NSW or Southern/Central Queensland?

Hi I'm 22 and I'm looking to move to get a kind of fresh start, I love Yeppoon (30min from Rocky) the scenery is great and the people are my kind of friendly however there is little to do there so I'm looking to start my life elsewhere with a similar feel but not as small and not so far away from my family that I'd struggle to visit them, i appreciate any suggestions?
