Need ideas for new Bar Lounge opening in Thornbury
Hi guys, I recently moved to Melbourne form Sydney. I am soon to be running an event at a lounge bar in Thornbury May 10. I am not familiar with this suburb and have not been there yet but want opinions on what kind of lounge bar would the locals want it to be? It will be held Saturday nights, from 8pm-1am preferably rnb and house music and on going cheap drink promotions e,g $3 vodkas from 9pm-12am

Whereabouts? Maybe rethink the choice of toons....house and r n b not really popular with the hipster crowd that get around in that part of town....a lot of uni students in preston / reservoir might be in for cheap drinks maybe the music too....
Wether you love or hate these places, the most frequented bar on high street (even without the band room) is the social club...most popular on Sydney rd you'd have to say the retreat....what they both have in common is large, undercover, heated outdoor areas with lots of seating....
I think a venue needs to make the punters feel just as comfortable as they would having mates over for drinks at home....then build everything else (music, times, themes, drinks, crowd) around that...
