Manoora

"Look before you listen. Theres some beaut places to live"

Of course there are the exceptions to all law and order issues. In Dec 2010 the police did a major clean up of vagrants and petty crime people in Cairns. The results have been spectacular. About 15 people had committed hundreds of burglary and small street violence crimes. Cairns city is quiet again and graffiti is down to next to nothing and tourists are flocking ack and enjoying this premiere lifestyle.
Used to be "don't buy in suburbs starting with an M. That's most near the inner city. We bought an excellent Apt in manoora (A bargain at $170k) and it's superb. Quiet , peaceful and lovely living 10 mins from the CBD. Highly recommend this small city experience, but expect the shops etc etc to close down at 5.30pm. The roads too, are very quiet after this until 7am or so.
Springfield crescent and the nearby streets are virtually in the sought after Edge hill suburb. Good schools, parks, shops, medical, supermarket and just minutes from heaps of shops etc . Don't believe all you may hear about giant increases in insurance / body corp charges. The area mentioned is noit experiencing the worst of those. Mainly the low lying areas in the CBD, Smithfield, and south from Edmonton etc.

Great for

  • Close proximity to everything: super quiet at night and very good in the daytime:

Not great for

  • Local kids doing mischievous stuff and
  • Opportunist small crimes. Now cleaned up bigtime and very few events in 20122

"10 minutes from the busy noisy mainland. A world away from problems"

This fast developing island presents the very best of living standards. A quiet, peaceful evironment. Wonderful wild life, including many birds that are human-friendly. Must be the perfect place for raising a family. An excellent seaside life style. Shopping mini markets, doctors, police, Queensland ambulance, SES, schools, many varieties of businesses including a bank.
