"Manure. Crime crime crime"

Still the worst suburb in far north for crime. Stay clear. Cheap for a reason.
Pros
  • close proximity to everything: super quiet at night and very good in the daytime:
Cons
  • local kids doing mischievous stuff and
  • Crime
  • opportunist small crimes. Now cleaned up bigtime and very few events in 20122

n18 Reviewing most of Cairns suburbs with poor comments doesn't increase the appeal of Kewarra Beach. I would encourage anyone reading your comments to look at your profile and make judgement on the suburb based on 'actual' reviews not this slander.

"Crime ridden and horrible"

Domestic violence. Robberies. Violence. Just another day here in Manoora. Lived there for 2 years. Low socio economic demographic. Full of housing commission. Unsafe at night. Steer clear.

"Look before you listen. Theres some beaut places to live"

Of course there are the exceptions to all law and order issues. In Dec 2010 the police did a major clean up of vagrants and petty crime people in Cairns. The results have been spectacular. About 15 people had committed hundreds of burglary and small street violence crimes. Cairns city is quiet again and graffiti is down to next to nothing and tourists are flocking ack and enjoying this premiere lifestyle.
Used to be "don't buy in suburbs starting with an M. That's most near the inner city. We bought an excellent Apt in manoora (A bargain at $170k) and it's superb. Quiet , peaceful and lovely living 10 mins from the CBD. Highly recommend this small city experience, but expect the shops etc etc to close down at 5.30pm. The roads too, are very quiet after this until 7am or so.
Springfield crescent and the nearby streets are virtually in the sought after Edge hill suburb. Good schools, parks, shops, medical, supermarket and just minutes from heaps of shops etc . Don't believe all you may hear about giant increases in insurance / body corp charges. The area mentioned is noit experiencing the worst of those. Mainly the low lying areas in the CBD, Smithfield, and south from Edmonton etc.

"Close to everything"

Have lived in Manoora for about 3 years and honestly would not want to live anywhere else in Cairns. Shopping Centre is 2 mins away, the city is 10 minutes and it's only 15 minutes to the Northern Beaches. Great access to schools and medical facilities. Rents and house prices are very reasonable two which makes it an excellent place to live. Most of the residents are working class people. I am really good friends with all my neighbours and there is a real friendly, "looking out for each other" spirit in the community. Anybody who knocks the "M's" are more than likely hoighty-toighty Northern Beaches types who would rather drive 30 minutes to the city and live in houses with 10 foot high fences so they never have to socialise with their neighbours

"Good place to rent!"

It's ok. Not to bad, not the best. Like every area, some things are better, some are less good. Red arrow is very close, so great for every day exercise. Shopping centre is very close and public transport aswell !

"After a year and a half"

Having lived in Manoora for a year and a half i have noticed the gradual change from the inhospitable neighbourhood into one that is now resulting in neighbours that are of a high quality.
These things take time.
