Holt is located 12 kms north west of the city. It adjoins both open pastureland and the bush. It is a tranquil area not far from both the Molongolo River and the Ginninderra Falls. It is a great place to raise a family with plenty of shoppping facilities and other amenities as well as an abundance of both playgrounds and parks to enjoy.

"Quintessential Country Living"
MacArthur is located around 14 kms south of Canberra. It has a great country feel with the horse agistment paddocks. Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve in MacArthur is part of the extensive Canberra Nature Park network. It doesn't have any local shops to speak of but a major shopping centre is less than 10 minutes away. Likewise MacArthur doesn't have any local school but there are a number only 5 minutes away. It is an idyllic setting in which to raise a family.

"Thought to be Canberra's Leisure Capital"
Mitchell is located 7 kms north north east of Melbourne. It is one of two suburbs where brothels are allowed. It also has other adult entertainment businesses including a strip club. A common misconception amongst Canberra residents is that it also is the home to the Exhibition Park known as Canberra EPIC and the Thoroughbred Park which is the Canberra Racecourse. These are actually located in the adjacent suburb of Lyneham.

"Highest Crime Rate in Canberra"
Oaks Estate is about 11 kms south east of Canberra. It is in the ACT on the NSW-ACT border. It is a place of contrasts. It is both an industrial and commercial area as well as being a government housing area. It is an agricultural area with horse paddocks, contrasted with an abattoir and a tannery. It is also the site of sale yards, a council nursery and a community garden. This is contrasted with the electricity substation and waste water management treatment centre. There is also warehousing and storage facilities in the town along with retailing and light metal fabrication industries. It also has a sports ground and an antiques restoration business.

"Enjoy the Good Life"
Pearce is located 10 kms south west of Canberra. The Mount Taylor nature reserve is a great place to explore. Climb the fire trails to the peak. It is a leisurely walk that can be enjoyed by everyone from the very young to the very old. It has now been partially sealed to make it safer for both mountain bike riders and walkers alike. When you reach the top you have a panoramic view of both Tuggeranong and Woden. There are a number of schools in the suburb as well as a local shopping centre and oval. When here you feel that you are close to everthing. It has a real community feel and neighbours are great. It is certainly a great place to raise a family.

"Everything You Would Want Right in Your Community"
Chisholm is located 16 kms south of Canberra. Simpson's Hill, on the boundary between Chisholm and Gilmore is a popular place for people to walk their dogs. There is a kurrajong tree at the top with a rope swing used by the children in the neighbourhood. As well as it there are abundant eucalyptus trees and birdlife. From the top of the hill there are fantastic views of the Brindabella Mountains, western Tuggeranong and the Bullen Range. It has one school which caters from preschool to Year 10. The local shopping centre meets all of the needs of the local community. It includes a major supermarket, pub, restaurants, petrol station, dental, medical and childcare services as well as other businesses. It has a number of sporting fields as well as tennis courts which can be enjoyed by the whole community. It is a great area for families.

"Most Advantaged Suburb in Australia"
Barton is located next to Capital Hill and according to the recent census it was the most advantaged suburb in Australia. For those living in Barton due to the limited space available apartment living is the order of the day. Barton's limited space is mainly taken up with government buildings and national institutions. It therefore has little space for a commercial precinct but shopping and entertainment options are not far away.

"Student Hub of the National Capital"
Acton is the intellectual centre of Canberra. It has a large student population, most of which are housed in rental accommodation. It has a lively nightlife and restaurant culture. It is the home of apartment living as over 90% of the accommodation available is in high rise dwellings. However, it is a very expensive place to buy housing as there is little residential development due to the fact that most of the land in the suburb is occupied by the university, CSIRO, National Film and Sound Archive and the National Museum.
Great for
- Close to the university
- Lively restaurant culture
Not great for
- Cost of housing
- Crime rate moderately high for Canberra
