Hayes Avenue

"Hayes Ave - Walk to Everything"

Hayes Avenue hosts the new BITS Medical Centre,Pathology, Community City/Library. Around the corner you will find a hairdresser, Boyne Island Physio Shop, Boyne Medical Centre, Boyne Bakery and Laundromat. In the shopping centre is Woolworths, Chemist, bottle shop, newsagent, coffee shop T3 and sometimes you will find a pop up shop. From Hayes Avenue it is an easy 5 minute stroll to the walking/cycling path onto the Boyne River. Boyne Primary School is under a 10 minute walk. This is a fantastic avenue to live in as you are so handy to everything - it will suit pensioners or residents who do not drive or may do not like to use their car. There is a bus stop (Public & School) within walking distance outside Maccas on Wyndham Avenue.

"Plimsoll Crt - Large blocks"

This is a quiet cul-de-sac with large blocks. High side of the road have water views if you build up the back of your block. Being under 10 minutes to Tannum Sands it is a great street for families. There is a school bus which will pick up/drop off for our Tannum Sands schools. It is very safe for children to ride their bikes around the cul-de-sac as generally you will encounter local traffic.

Cressey Court

"Cressey Crt - Great Cul-de-sac to live in!"

Our family lived in this street for approximately 7 years. It is a cul-de-sac with only 4 houses. It is on the Boyne River and the walking trail is just off Cressey Court making it a prime spot if you enjoying walking, running or cycling. The other bonus here is that with the river being right there you can just pop your canoe or outrigger into the river and go for a paddle. St Francis and Tannum Primary and also Tannum High Schools are all just a few minutes walk from here. Chanel College & Trinity College will pick up at the top of Cressey Court.

Riverside Drive

"Riverside Drive - Dress Circle Precinct"

Riverside Drive would be one of the sought after streets to reside in due to its proximity to the Boyne River, local schools and the high quality properties which are built in this Estate. Leading off Riverside Drive is a small cul-de-sac which hosts the Tannum boat ramp. The bike and cycling trail runs along the front of the homes which are directly facing the river. Riverside Drive is adjacent parkland providing a lovely open area to walk your dog.

Positioned right on the edge of the Boyne River with only 2 houses in the street, this is one of the most prestigious streets in Boyne Island. "Gregory Street - Friendly neighbours, walk to schools"

I have lived in this Street for 5 years and absolutely everything about living here. All the neighbours are friendly, & even though we do not live in each others pockets, I am comforted by the fact that they are there if we need them. The Tannum High School and Primary School are only 5 minutes walk, and 8 to 10 minutes walk gets me to the Millennium Esplanade and the beach. The Tannum Sands Hotel is about 8 minutes walk.

Calliope

"Calliope - Best little country town in our region"

Calliope is semi- rural and named after the Calliope River. The beauty of Calliope is that you are only 25 minutes drive from Gladstone where there is great shopping and restaurants and 30 minutes from Tannum Sands beach, Boyne River or Lake Awoonga.

There are a few different areas in Calliope as it has been a long term outer suburb of the Gladstone region. In the main street you will find the air conditioned Hotel with a TAB, a relatively new shopping center with Drakes, doctor, chemist, hairdresser and a real estate agent - what else could you want in a small country town?

In January 2020 a new High School was opened and there is a well established Calliope Primary School which also hosts a swimming pool.

Real estate is varied from established residential homes in Calliope itself to small acreage out along off Stowe Road which then leads to larger farms. Rents and sale prices have always been a little lower than Gladstone which makes Calliope even more attractive to live here.

Boxing Day Calliope Races are a must if you are a local or in town at this of the year!
Calliope Rodeo is held in September annually so if you are looking for another great family event write this onto your calendar.

Calliope Country Club offers you an opportunity for a round of golf and there is also a local bowling club.

The very popular Calliope Historical Village Markets are held towards the end of the month (check their Facebook page for dates). Grab a drink or a bite to eat and sit with your family under the shady trees. Bring the kids along for a ride on the famous miniature train or just come along to view the abundance of homewares, fresh produce, plants and bric-a-brac for sale. Gold coin donation.

While there don't forget to visit the village's historic buildings and spend some time looking at the interesting displays including the Calliope River Railway Display.

Boyne Island

"Boyne Island - Over 20km Walking/Cyling paths"

Boyne Island is the twin town to Tannum Sands and is predominantly built around our beautiful Boyne River. As you drive into Boyne Island from Gladstone and over the bridge which joins the two towns you will honestly be amazed at the beauty this town has to offer.

The Turtle Way Cycle & Walking 20km path starts in Boyne Island and from here you can take the path all along the Boyne River, over the bridge and onto the Tannum Sands side where you can continue to follow it all around to either the prestigious Riverside Estate or around to the Tannum Surf Club.

Around Boyne Island there are several boat ramps, which is a necessity for our Gladstone region as we have one of the largest boat registrations in Australia! The Boyne River has recently been dredged allowing easier access to our beautiful waterways and islands. The fishing is great, along with prawns and crabbing!

Boyne Island has a local golf club and bowling club as well as magnificent sporting fields which offer facilities for Junior & Senior Rugby, Junior & Senior Netball, AFL, soccer and cricket.

Our annual music festival "Under The Trees" is held in September and the line up of musicians makes this festival not one to be missed!

Boyne Island has a lovely Primary School along with a number of day care options.

Throughout this small community there are many home hairdressers and beauticians - just ask the locals and they will be sure to help you out here!

The major shopping complex accommodates Woolworths, a bottle shop, cafe and a chemist and there is a local bakery and laundromat.

Being a long term local resident of Tannum Sands, I love living in this region, and enjoy all that this region has to offer.

Tannum Sands

"Tannum Sands - Winner 2018 Cleanest Beach of the Year!"

Where else would you want to live when a town wears this crown!

There are a number of beaches to choose from to visit however for young families Tannum Main Beach is patrolled during the Summer Season, and there is also 4 wheel driving up to Lily's Beach. A Council Permit is required, and you can obtain a permit online or at the Gladstone Regional Council. Known to the locals as "Second Beach" is the unleashed dog beach. If you are looking for another beach option, at low tide you can walk over Wild Cattle Creek and up the eastern side of Wild Cattle Island.

Our community is blessed with an abundance of artists and on the first Saturday of each month BAM (Beach, Arts, Music) is held on the Millenium Esplanade, where you will find local produce and wares for sale along with a band. BYO chair & drinks and buy a wood fired pizza, watch the sunset over the water, listening to a variety of local muso's.

Tannum Surf Club has the best view in town looking out to the local islands - Cold beer and fabulous food - you can't beat it. Tannum Sands Hotel also has a fabulous menu and cold beer on tap again with magnificent views over the water.

There are a number of small cafes which offer fantastic coffee and meals.

I live in Tannum Sands and have done so for the past 19 years and I honestly would not live anywhere else.

Benaraby

"Benaraby - Gateway to Lake Awoonga Dam"

With its location 20km south of Gladstone , you cannot miss Benaraby. It is a small community and fairly well known to anglers, being the gateway to Lake Awoonga, which has a pile of Barramundi waiting to be caught. The Lake is one beautiful place which must not be overlooked as it is perfect for water skiing, SUP and water sports. There is also plenty of fish to be caught underneath the Benaraby Bridge. The Boyne River flows north from the lake through the locality, passing just east of the town, where it is crossed by the Bruce Highway

The town has fuel, food outlets, motel accommodation and general supplies for the traveller with a caravan park at the Lake. There is also a small fresh Fruit and Vege Market located at the Benaraby Junction turn-off.

Benaraby is also home to the popular and well-known, Benaraby Raceway, where locals can take in spectacular motorbike, drag and street racing

It is a small friendly community and properties are predominantly small acreage blocks with main town water which makes them very appealing to families.

Benaraby Primary School is built in the heart of the community and is renown locally for the annual Benaraby Fair held in August.

Clinton

"Close to Homemaker Centre & Schools"

Clinton is one of the original suburbs in Gladstone, however with development over time, it hosts a combination of residential and commercial property. It is home to two primary schools , Clinton State & St John Primary School and is spread either side of Dawson Highway. Being an established suburb it offers all the benefits of living in built-up areas including eateries, sporting grounds, Homemaker Centre and the Airport.
Clinton is a very popular area for young families due to what it provides in the way of education, medical, public transport and restaurants.

Beecher

"Beecher - Friendly community, Small Acreage, close to Gladstone"

A friendly community located 13 minutes/12.3 km to Gladstone. The majority of the properties are small acreage which offers the locals a lovely semi-rural lifestyle with the advantage of being within close to proximity to schools, shops, medical facilities etc.

Beecher is also located approximately 13km to the Bruce Highway, offering quick and easy access for travel north, south or west of this region.

Properties for rent are scarce due to families being attracted to the location and lifestyle that Beecher has on offer.

Families come together for BBQ's, properties allow for a horse or two, children can ride their bikes on bitumen in a quiet cul-de-sac.

The closest schools will be in Gladstone - St John's Catholic Primary School is in Clinton, and Clinton Primary School both of which are approximately 5.9km away, and you could choose from either Gladstone State High School or the newly built Calliope High School which opened in January 2020.

Curtis Island

"Unspoilt Views, Idyllic Lifestyle"

Curtis Coast Island is positioned just off the Gladstone Harbour and is beautiful with clean beaches and unspoilt views.

The houses on Curtis Island are established and provide accommodation for both permanent and holiday lettings. Established homes do not come onto the sales market often however when they do, they are quite quickly snapped up, due to the idyllic lifestyle and close proximity to Gladstone.
As at May 2020 there is a 612 m2 vacant black of land available to purchase listed at $155,000.

Holiday Lettings are made via online booking platform, however you will need to book well in advance as supply is limited and demand high at peak times.

There is a small shop on the island which sells basic provisions for locals and day visitors.

Public access to the island is with Curtis Coast Ferry Services who departs Gladstone Harbour Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday for a return trip to Gladstone Harbour/Curtis Island/Gladstone Harbour.

The car stops at South End of Curtis Island after a 90 minute ride from Gladstone harbour and drop off's are at 2 other stops.
The ferry drops you off onto a concrete all weather boat ramp.
