"COAL TRAINS 24/7 and noise if you like noise"

A good area to reside in with our neighbours being quite friendly. HOWEVER, The coal train situation is unbearable. If you live in or around FERNDALE st BEWARE. 24 hr coal train shunting and NOISE, NOISE, NOISE. House shakes all hours of the day and night - "crashing and squealing" of coal train wheels. The state government is well aware of the problem and residents sick to death of complaining just give up.

This problem has gone on for years and is protected by profits from coal selling.
An entity called RTC Corporation has a licence to manage these issues. This is just a sham where freight companies such as Pacific National can create havoc and seemingly continue unabated.

There is no noise monitoring and EPA laws are being broken.
No one seems interested in seriously halting the noise and pollution problems created by coal trains that stretch for over 1km parked on our doorstep day and night.

In an age where laws govern everybody and how they live, then why? can companies do what they like when they like and be protected? - I guess profit , employment will always beat JURISPRUDENCE. The lonely man cannot. Make noise at home that affects people and the cops would be round in a flash to stop it. Drive a big train and crash it all night, try stopping that HMMMM.

If the trains stopped, this area would boom.

Ferndale Street

"Fix the trains and live in peace, everyone shall be happy evermore. CALL 131 555 - Complaints Hotline For Noise & Dust etc"

Worst area for noise in newcastle - next door to 24hr coal train line. Can you imagine shunting at 1am, 2am 3am etc in the morning followed by crashing that sounds like an explosion of an IED used in war?
Then add to this cocktail, squealing of metal wheels and some diesel fumes into your bedroom window.

This is the cocktail for insomnia.

One day, I pray everyone gets sick enough of this problem and seriously tackles the operators that believe parking trains on our doorstep day and night is acceptable. We were told shunting wouldnt occur during all hours of the night, well thats a lie. Its just easier than parking them further away from the office or in a turnback at the Port. Resients (BAD LUCK)

Get ready for double the amount of coal passing through Port Waratah and double the problems at night. This is the future plan for ferndale St. I honestly feel sorry for those poor people who live here and can't do a thing about it.

Great for

  • The Pros work in Islington, Not Tighes Hill

Not great for

  • No concrete noise barrier ever created, just a tin fence - Cheapskates

Who lives here?

  • Retirees
  • LGBT+
