"Small suburb but big opportunities"

Lived here for two years, the suburb is very lovely, clean and quiet and the local community is very nice and welcoming. Has its own family-friendly local shopping centre, and you can easily drive a couple of minutes to Bundoora or Greensborough shopping centres. Good public transport and very safe in general. North East link will potentially boost the suburb even further.

"Great investment"

Capital growth and rental yield is excellent. I lived there for a year before I rented the house out. Excellent amenities and transport. Access to major roads and schools in walking distance. If it had a big Safeway it would tick every box. Very family orientated and community spirit.

"Quiet little suburb perfect for families and retirees"

Watsonia is one of the safest suburbs in the area, with heaps of greenery and a plaza located just down the road in Greensborough. Public transport is plentiful with three bus lines and a train station running through the suburb. Is perfect for a retiree or families as there's no big night life so is easy to get a good nights rest. Schools in and around Watsonia also have good reputations.

"Great for families"

When we bought our house 10 years ago Watsonia - Watsonia North ticked all our search criterias: good schools, PT, safe and affordable. And it was all that plus a great feeling of peace, comfort, joy and happiness, that homely feeling not only when around the house but anywhere you go: to the shopping village to buy groceries at IGA or fresh muffins from bakery, go for a coffee with smashed avo for a brunch, to the library to pick up a book; to the Binnark park for a short stroll after diner, or for a longer walk to the Kalparrin gardens lake to feed ducks on Saturday morning. If you are a fan of fitness, there is a newly renovated Watermark centre at Greensborough just 5 min drive or 30 min walk. No matter where you go and what you do people are very freindly and always greet you with a smile and a kind word. Watsonia is a great place to live and raise your kids. It's very quiet and there is a feeling of a close-knit community like in small towns. We won't recommend it for a night life though ( try Toorak then)

"Comfortable"

Be prepared for some dodgy street parking in residential areas, and parking along the strip of shops on Watsonia Rd is next to impossible during peak hours (and if you're lucky to get a spot, good luck getting out). Can hear hoons sometimes at night doing burn outs. Otherwise, good little suburb with excellent public transport access and close to shopping.

"Watsonia...A hidden Gem!"

We relocated from Sydney to Melbourne last year and had no idea about any of the Melb suburbs. My husband had been transferred to La Trobe University for work so we looked at suburbs in the surrounding areas and found a lovely home at Watsonia....what a little gem of a suburb!
We are within walking distance of the train station and bus stops, there is a wondeful strip of shops opposite the station which have everything :a petrol station, IGA store, 3 chemists, cafes, bakeries, florist, pet store, pizza joints, chinese restaurant, newsagent, greengrocer, butcher, charcoal chicken shop, fish and chip shops, post office and the local library is next to the station....you name it Watsonia has it.
The streets are wide, quiet and leafy and in our street there is a wonderful mix of families and retirees, there is only one rental property in the whole street. When we moved in we had neighbours from five houses turn up on or doorstep with a welcome gift or an invite to their house.
There are great local public, Catholic and private schools and of course La Trobe Uni and RMIT at Bundoora ( a few minutes drive away).
We are so pleased we found this quiet little suburb tucked between the larger ,busier suburbs of Greensborough and Bundoora...it's almost like a little village complete with friendly locals.

"Close to Everything Watsonia the place to be ."

Watsonia has it all and is close to everything with out been to crowded or busy. Transport dream with major train , bus and roads close by. I have worked all over Melbourne and been very happy with travel times . Major Shopping Centres at Greensborough Plaza and plenty of other retail around. Major Hospitals just around the corner (Austin and Womans Hospital and private in Bundoora) . We have plenty of leafy streets which are wide and quite. Sporting Grounds Galore you name it we have it . Major Swimming complex been built close by at Greensborough and the shopping plaze been upgraded in the not to distant future. Schools we have plenty of those not to far as well Private and public you have Loyola College, Parade College , Ivanhoe Grammer , Catholic ladies College and more. Universitys as well Latrobe Uni and RMIT . The best thing though, is if we dont have it we have the best transport to get you there. Lovin It

"Looking for investment property in Watsonia"

Hi All,

I have been reading the reviews about Watsonia at realestate.com.au and it sounds it's a good place to live in. I am looking to an investment property and would like some information about the rental market in Watsonia. I haven't finalized a property yet but looking for something close to the station (approx 1 km). Any reviews or comments on the rental market in Watsonia will be really helpful. Thanks
