"The Cutest Suburb"

Battery point is so cute! The cutest houses everywhere: cottages to big victorian and Georgian Mansions. Exclusive suburb, Hobart's most expensive, but very comparable to the national averages. So close to the city and Salamanca. Beautiful streets.
Inner city living.

"Quiet and peaceful suburb in the heart of Hobart"

Quiet suburb with many home owners and retirees. Very few young people around. Battery point is a short walk to the CBD, and Sandy-Bay where there is a Woolworths, shopping hub, and many restaurants. Unfortunately no public transport runs directly through Battery Point so this leaves a lot to be desired. The cultural heritage runs through the streets and many residences are beautifully historic.

"Great Suburb, lots of cafes and a short stroll right into the Hobart CBD"

Battery Point is a great little suburb with tons of character and history, lots of cafes and great Coffee. It is a very short walk to both the Hobart CBD and Sandy Bay so you are spoilt for restaurant choices. Although parking can be a little tricky if you are a guest as most streets are 2 hour zones Battery Point is so close to everything you don't need a car.

"An upmarket suburb with lots of know all busy bodies"

Battery point is arguably Hobart's most prestigious suburb and is desirable for its close proximity to the waterfront precinct. Unfortunately, as it is an expensive and historic area, it has become a location of choice for opinionated whingers.

"Fantastic location with all the amenities and more..."

Have lived here for 12 years. Fantastic and supportive neighbours, gorgeous surroundings of small cottages, roses in spring and former sea captain mansions. Close walking distance to great restaurants, breakfast cafes and Salamanca shopping. St David's Park is a delight and has large children's playground, other small playgrounds too. Parking permits available for locals but Saturday morning is Salamanca market so hard to park then. Doctor's surgery nearby, also physio, dentist, several gyms, hairdresser, One of best bakeries in Australia - Jackman's and McRoss, antiques and books all in Battery Point. Lady Gowrie childcare on corner of McGregor St. Lots of pedestrians so safe. Rates ok as petrol use is reduced. Albuera Street State School nearby. Bus goes through Battery Point but walking distance to city. Can think of no other area in Australia with so much going for it. Fantastic place to live!

"We use to live in battery point"

We lived in battery point for 5 years, we loved the house we were living in but let me tell you i will never live there again.
1 The council rates have sky rocketed to more then 1000%
2 Battery point is full of snobs who think they are above all.
3 There is no community feeling.
4 Any one can pick the phone and lodge a complain if your hedge is just about to stick out.
5 If you are even doing little things in your garden or in the house every one passing by has an eye on you so that they can complain to the council.
6 Renovation is a nightmare in Battery point, neighbours think that your house is there house and will go to any extent to see what you are doing and if they don't like it or has some kind of grudge on you they will try to stop it.
7 It is very rare to have good neighbours in battery point.
8 Batter point is a magnate for thieves, lots of things were stolen from our house and garden
Bed shits, Towels , computer, mobile phone from the car the list can go on.

"A quiet heritage village close to the waterfront/Salamanca and the CBD with shops and eateries."

Walking distance to everywhere in Salamanca and Hobart. Local restaurants and shops with schools closeby and many parks nearby. Community atmosphere. Heritige area. Families, couples and retirees in the same community. Excellent appreciation in value and difficult to over-capitalise property.

"Inner City Living"

Battery Point is full of older style homes and terraced houses, sitting prettily on the narrow streets typical of the days when the suburb was established. The suburb flows from Sandy Bay Road downhill to the banks of the Derwent. Because of its proximity to the city, homes here are very expensive, and in constant demand. The grander homes on the waterfront boast uninterrupted river views and parklike grounds.
