"Residents live in fear"
Residents are fearful of living in this suburb. Please don't buy here. You will live in fear.

This is completely untrue. Brighton is one of the safest suburbs in all of Victoria.
This is interesting. Today's 15.09.22 article headlined "Victorian crime statistics reveal Bec Judd was right about Brighton" by Ellen Ransley begs to differ. It may not be the safest, but it is no Broadmeadows!
Yeah I agree this is an unpopular opinion. That being said, in summer there seem to be a lot more incidents happening in Bayside beach suburbs. It would be good to have more information!
Lol what. I've lived here majority of my life and have not had a problem. This is wild for you to make that accusation.
Brighton may have low crime stats, but it also is one of the few suburbs with no police station, nearest is in Moorabbin. So, if something terrible happens, you will have to wait a longer while for help.
"Plenty to do"
Brighton has a very large range of things to see and experience , from the colorful Bathing boxes to the Sandbelt golf courses. There is a massive range of retail stores , restaurants , cafes and specialty shops to keep you busy.

"Top End!"
Brighton is one of Bayside's most affluent suburbs. Some of the most desirable real estate is bought in this suburb for incredible prices.
Known for it's Church Street shopping strip, Yacht Club and the Golden Mile, the people of Brighton never leave.
A short train ride into Richmond for sporting events, or Melbourne CBD for a night out.
Brighton also offers extreme choice for residents and visitors on all levels. High end resturants, cafes, bars complimented by clothing and homewares shops.
After you're shopped out, take a short stroll down to Brighton Beach and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere as you stroll along the Golden Mile - admiring the homes that sit basically on the sand.

"Buzzing Brighton"
Brighton is one of the most popular suburbs in Melbourne, known for its vibrant beach boxes that run parallel to the beach, as well a highly sought-after location for multiple seasons of the hit show ‘The Block’ – this suburb really is a desirable locale. This gorgeous beach side town is home to several outstanding architecturally designed homes that really sets this suburb above the rest.
You will find a variety of people in Brighton, mature couples who have lived in Brighton for many years, young families that love the location and the prestige of this small beach side town and singles who adore the seaside lifestyle. There are a number of fantastic schools in the area as such Haileybury college, Brighton Grammar School, St Leonard's College and Brighton Primary School- plenty of options for those with children, younger or grown up. The area also has all your transport needs covered with buses and trains available.
Just 12km west of the city and just and 25min drive, this top ranked suburb is the perfect location being both close to the city scene and the seaside.
For a standard 3-bedroom house, you can expect to pay approx $900 per week in rent depending on the proximity to the beach.

"Great for Family Living"
At 12 km from the CBD its just outside the magical "within 10km" but it's still great family living - close to the CBD. Housing stock is a mixture of grand historic houses on large blocks - mainly Victorian & Edwardian, newer mansions, some of questionable architectural merit e.g. Neo Georgian!, townhouses, & both historic & newly built apartment complexes - the newer ones often targeting local down sizers Very good schooling options both private e.g. Brighton Grammar, Firbank Girls Grammar & public e.g. Brighton Secondary College. Rich in sporting options e.g. easy access to Beach Road cycling and multiple sand belt golf courses, gyms, sailing, tennis courts, swimming. yoga studios etc. The retail & cafe, restaurant options offered by Church & Bay streets add to the suburbs appeal & it must be the most well serviced suburb in Melbourne for film fans with multi screen complexes in both Church & Bay streets. Very well serviced by four train stations (Sandringham line) within walking distance of residents in Brighton as well as bus & tram services. Like anywhere in Melbourne car access can be challenging in peak times in the man roads servicing the suburb from the CBD (Nepean Highway & Beach Road). As expensive as it is - median three bedroom house price circa $2m - given the quality of lifestyle offered, size of the properties relative to proximity to CBD & beach - it can be argued that it represents good value - particularly for family buyers. "A family focussed neighbourhood"
Growing up in Brighton, one feels very connected to the beach, the lifestyle and most importantly, the community. It is a safe and friendly place where a visit to the shops or cafes always means bumping into a neighbour, colleague or friend. Bayside Melbourne is self sufficient in terms of offering local professional expertise, specialist medical services, private and public Hospitals. We are surrounded by world famous sand belt golf courses, and easy access to both the CBD and the Peninsula. Some of Melbourne's top grammar or public schools are found here, so truly a marvellous area to put down some roots and watch your family blossom over many happy years.

"It's all about lifestyle in Brighton"
I grew up here, but have lived interstate and overseas for more than 13 years. I can honestly say living in Brighton is all about lifestyle. I start each day with a run or a walk along the beach, there are so many tracks and different areas to enjoy, with coffee shops dotted along the way. I am lucky to work in Brighton as well however if you work in town, you can choose from 3 train stations to take you into the CBD which takes just 20 minutes. We have some of Melbourne's best schools, Firbank, Brighton Grammar, St.Leonards, Haileybury and Xavier for private schools and a wonderful state secondary school called Brighton Secondary. Our Primary schools are equally sought after. Both Church Street and Bay Street offer great shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, cinema's, and are serviced by rail stations. Brighton is known for captivating new residents - once they move here, they find it very hard to leave. It's great for families and professionals and offers great capital growth for those lucky enough to buy a home here.

Brighton beach at the South end of Brighton is a good swimming area, but stay away from the Northen end near Head Street, especially after heavy rain the Elwood canal washes a lot of polluted effluent into the Bay, which contaminates the beach area either side of it.
"Affluent inner city prime bayside living in prestigious Brighton boasts leafy architecturally designed streets and relaxing beaches"
Lovely affluent bayside suburb with pristine beaches and views of the glistering city skyline. Brighton has a relaxing coastal feel whilst only being a couple of minutes distance to the city and the many amenities of the inner suburbs of Melbourne. The suburb boasts tidy leafy tree lined streets and lovely bayside southerly breezes for optimum living outdoors. A variety of restaurants and shops are popular in Church St and Bay St along with accessible transportation. The suburb has truly high achieving schools with strong reputations and the blue chip pocket is popular with professionals, celebrities and families. The treasured and respected architecture is also a gem of this suburb with a variety of leafy estates and parks to explore. Bright coloured bathing boxes also define the shoreline being a unique trait of Brighton living. The yacht clubs and golf courses are also popular and parking is free for residents in summer to truly enjoy the local beaches. Residents are very polite and friendly too. Likely one of the most unique and envied suburb in Melbourne. But these are just a few reasons to like Brighton with much more to be explored.

"Beautiful Brighton"
With its own “Royal” yacht club and a history of privileged bayside living that stretches back more than 120 years, Brighton is often a match for Toorak prices at the top end of the market. Any suburb with its own “Golden Mile” has to be a very attractive place to live, but the high prices and grand homes are only a fraction of the Brighton attraction. Some of Melbourne’s most prestigious private schools can be found here. The suburb has its’ own golf course (of course) and the Brighton shopping village is a tourist attraction in its own right. The famous Brighton bathing boxes are bayside icons and the beach itself is a great draw card. Housing stock in the area varies from the palatial to the downright humble. Though it’s hard to find an original Californian Bungalow that hasn’t been elevated to something finer in one way or another. Average prices in Brighton East are lower than those in Brighton. Be warned though, there is nothing “average” about this suburb and that applies very particularly to the price of real estate.

"Beautiful area... The old Australia"
Brighton is one of the best spots in Melbourne, close to the beach and has a great village area. As a result is very affluent and expensive.
It reminds me of how Australia would have been without the Government implemented mass immigration of the past couple of decades.
I can only assume you refer to the continuous shift in immigration policies since the 70s that was needed, amongst other reasons, to attract the skills required to advance our economy and quality of life. Oh what joy it would be if everything had just stayed the way it was in the 60's. Why, we wouldn't have the internet as a platform to whinge and importantly all those pesky women who insist on pointing out the racist and uneducated views of a few as they would still have very little participation in public life. yes, that is the way Australia should be. Idiot.
"The home of the Brighton Icebergers"
An eclectic bunch of all welcoming cold water swimmers who venture into the bay everyday. The temperatures range from 8 degrees in Winter to 25 degrees in summer. The only rule is No Wet Suits !! All are welcome to swim from the RBYC or Brighton Baths.
Life is always good when your swimming in our beautiful bay.
Brighton is a great place to live and raise your family. Wonderful schools parks and public transport.

"Brighton: Luxury Living at its Finest"
Brighton is an affluent coastal suburb of Melbourne. It's luxury living at its finest and most tranquil. Brighton is one of the most expensive and exclusive suburbs in Melbourne, evident by 7-bedroom mansions everywhere! It's home to one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in Victoria such as Brighton Grammar School and Firbank Grammar School. The suburb is only some 11 km away from the city and is easily accessible by public transport such as trains and trams. Adding on even more, Brighton has stretches of sandy beach and it has a stunning view from Port Phillip Bay to the CBD. Brighton is exceedingly expensive, but the facilities and pristine beauty is more than made up for it.

"Briiiiiiiiiighton darling..."
One of Melbourne's oldest suburbs.. high cost living but so worth it! Some of the best schools in Melbourne, however be prepared to spend up big for rent and also to buy! No chance if you are a first home buyer unless Mummy & Daddy are cashed up! It's a great place to live honestly and residents love to have a drink and have a barbecue!
Live here if you want to be close to the beach and you don't mind paying $5 for a coffee...
The only downside is there is a real lack of good breakfast places....If someone opened a quality cafe here they would make some real money!

"Wealthy beachside suburb; home to various celebrities"
Home to some of the wealthiest people in Melbourne including Eddie McGuire, Shane Warne, Matthew Lloyd and Chris Judd, Brighton is a beachside suburb based just 12km from Melbourne’s CBD. Homes in the area are predominantly grand properties and large residential blocks of land which make the suburb visually stunning and fetch an average of $1.4 million. Nestled between Elwood, Port Phillip, Elsternwick and Hampton, Brighton plays host to a yacht club, gold course, two cinemas, many old churches and a number of secondary schools. Buses, trains and trams also service the area, which is home to over 20,000 people.

She meant Frank McGuire, not Eddie.
Lovely area, have considered living here when I get older.
It's not a "happening place" for singles or younger people (under 35). Displays a more quiet vibe and comprises of older people and families. It can be quite insulated - it's only little community. A little pretentious too.
The pretentiousness comes from cashed up yuppies who try to fit in, the more established families are absolutely lovely....The local member Tim Wilson fits into that category but locals ignore him...lol ...Friendly and very relaxing.
I love this website; it definitely shows how safe and stable Brighton is! I highly recommend living in Brighton because of how full of SHI....shining stars Brighton has!
