Growing up in Brighton, one feels very connected to the beach, the lifestyle and most importantly, the community. It is a safe and friendly place where a visit to the shops or cafes always means bumping into a neighbour, colleague or friend. Bayside Melbourne is self sufficient in terms of offering local professional expertise, specialist medical services, private and public Hospitals. We are surrounded by world famous sand belt golf courses, and easy access to both the CBD and the Peninsula. I grew up here, but have lived interstate and overseas for more than 13 years. I can honestly say living in Brighton is all about lifestyle. I start each day with a run or a walk along the beach, there are so many tracks and different areas to enjoy, with coffee shops dotted along the way. I am lucky to work in Brighton as well however if you work in town, you can choose from 3 train stations to take you into the CBD which takes just 20 minutes. We have some of Melbourne's best schools, Firbank, Brighton Grammar, St.Leonards, Haileybury and Xavier for private schools and a wonderful state secondary school called Brighton Secondary. Our Primary schools are equally sought after. Both Church Street and Bay Street offer great shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, cinema's, and are serviced by rail stations. Brighton is known for captivating new residents - once they move here, they find it very hard to leave. It's great for families and professionals and offers great capital growth for those lucky enough to buy a home here.

Nice to swim but...As seawater reaches farther inland, it can cause destructive erosion, wetland flooding, aquifer and agricultural soil contamination...

Lovely affluent bayside suburb with pristine beaches and views of the glistering city skyline. Brighton has a relaxing coastal feel whilst only being a couple of minutes distance to the city and the many amenities of the inner suburbs of Melbourne. The suburb boasts tidy leafy tree lined streets and lovely bayside southerly breezes for optimum living outdoors. A variety of restaurants and shops are popular in Church St and Bay St along with accessible transportation. The suburb has truly high achieving schools with strong reputations and the blue chip pocket is popular with professionals, celebrities and families. The treasured and respected architecture is also a gem of this suburb with a variety of leafy estates and parks to explore. Bright coloured bathing boxes also define the shoreline being a unique trait of Brighton living. The yacht clubs and golf courses are also popular and parking is free for residents in summer to truly enjoy the local beaches. Residents are very polite and friendly too. Likely one of the most unique and envied suburb in Melbourne. But these are just a few reasons to like Brighton with much more to be explored.

With its own “Royal” yacht club and a history of privileged bayside living that stretches back more than 120 years, Brighton is often a match for Toorak prices at the top end of the market. Any suburb with its own “Golden Mile” has to be a very attractive place to live, but the high prices and grand homes are only a fraction of the Brighton attraction. Some of Melbourne’s most prestigious private schools can be found here. The suburb has its’ own golf course (of course) and the Brighton shopping village is a tourist attraction in its own right. The famous Brighton bathing boxes are bayside icons and the beach itself is a great draw card. Housing stock in the area varies from the palatial to the downright humble. Though it’s hard to find an original Californian Bungalow that hasn’t been elevated to something finer in one way or another. Average prices in Brighton East are lower than those in Brighton. Be warned though, there is nothing “average” about this suburb and that applies very particularly to the price of real estate.

I own an apartment here and am not rich, things can be a little bit pricey but you just need to know where to shop. So close to everything and its a really friendly suburb.

Brighton is one of the best spots in Melbourne, close to the beach and has a great village area. As a result is very affluent and expensive.

It reminds me of how Australia would have been without the Government implemented mass immigration of the past couple of decades.

An eclectic bunch of all welcoming cold water swimmers who venture into the bay everyday. The temperatures range from 8 degrees in Winter to 25 degrees in summer. The only rule is No Wet Suits !! All are welcome to swim from the RBYC or Brighton Baths.

Brighton is an affluent coastal suburb of Melbourne. It's luxury living at its finest and most tranquil. Brighton is one of the most expensive and exclusive suburbs in Melbourne, evident by 7-bedroom mansions everywhere! It's home to one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in Victoria such as Brighton Grammar School and Firbank Grammar School. The suburb is only some 11 km away from the city and is easily accessible by public transport such as trains and trams. Adding on even more, Brighton has stretches of sandy beach and it has a stunning view from Port Phillip Bay to the CBD. Brighton is exceedingly expensive, but the facilities and pristine beauty is more than made up for it.

Gorgeous town with everything that you need and some of the best schools. Unfortunately it is out of reach for most people. Maybe I'll move here when I get my inheritance ;)

One of Melbourne's oldest suburbs.. high cost living but so worth it! Some of the best schools in Melbourne, however be prepared to spend up big for rent and also to buy! No chance if you are a first home buyer unless Mummy & Daddy are cashed up! It's a great place to live honestly and residents love to have a drink and have a barbecue!
Live here if you want to be close to the beach and you don't mind paying $5 for a coffee...
The only downside is there is a real lack of good breakfast places....If someone opened a quality cafe here they would make some real money!
