"Great location for singles"

Close to the action but no option to turn it off, watch out for the workers on street corners.

"A great place to stay, but not necessarily to live"

The positives are it is in a vibrant and exciting area with plenty of places to eat and drink and with good access to public transport. However, that excitement comes at a cost.

Carlilse street is an extremely busy street and carries a lot of traffic which for people with young children or cats can be a little unnerving. The trams also run along the street making catching the tram easy but just adds to the traffic on the road.

It's an easy stroll, if a noisy one, into St Kilda to the Beach and Luna Park. It is also very easy to get in the car and head to Albert Park, the Botanic Gardens or the city.

The beach is a great place to go with young children to play in the sand, and there are playgrounds for them to play on. However, the one I found was a little dirty and right by a main road making it difficult to hear anything other than the drone of countless cars.

"You can do better than Carlisle Street"

Carlisle Street is one of the main streets in St Kilda. It does carry a lot of traffic especially at peak hour, and off street parking can sometimes be a pain, but it is there. Public Transport is obviously a huge plus.

Personally I would not want to live on Carlisle St, it's too busy for me. Not to mention you sometimes get some hookers\prostitutes hanging around, as you do on Grey Street and Greeves Street.

Overall, there are a lot better streets to live in the area.
CommunityMan Further east up Carlisle St it is more civilised, and the Carlisle wine bar is cosy with good food.
