"Soul and community in abundance"

I owned a property in Tudor Gardens and sold recently with a view to renting for a year and then downsizing to a smaller property in Inglewood.
Given there were so few rentals in Inglewood I had to move to East Perth (rentals in abundance despite the much touted tight vacancy rates). I cannot express how much I am missing Inglewood. Living in East Perth, which I find a sterile suburb, acutely highlights Inglewood's strengths-soul, leafy green areas and its sense of community.

"Inner City Living at its finest"

I lived in Inglewood for 8 years when I first moved to Perth. As a young professional it was the only place to be.

Being able to walk to the cafe strip, bars and pubs certainly had its advantages and was only 6 minute commute to my work in the city!

Inglewood is rich in history and has the most amazing vibe both day and night.

"Beware Housing commisson flats"

We lived on Crawford road closer to the Walter Ed end by the state housing flats. Car broken into twice. Washing stolen from back yard. Worst place I ever lived. Glad to be out of the suburb.

I've lived at this end of Walter Road for 5 years and I've never had an issue with the housing flats

"We're going to miss you Inglewood (Stuart St)"

When we moved to Perth 4 years ago, we really didn't know where to live. Although we had norrowed down some general areas, it was partly by chance that we ended up in Inglewood - and what a fantastically 'lucky' chance that was.

The suburb is a quite old area, with a lot of 1920/30's bungalow houses, many of which have been renovated/extended, but generally all kept to a good standard. Residents vary, but there is definitely a noticeable number of younger families, which are well catered for by the safe neighbourhood, relatively affordable housing (especially compared to Mt Lawley), and numerous suburban parks/playgrounds (our house on Stuart St has 2 parks within 300m of the house). The Inglewood Primary School is also meant to be one of the best in the area.

Running through the middle of Inglewood is the fantastic 'Beaufort St Strip'. While not quite as developed as the nearby Mount Lawely section (of the same Rd), it offers an increasing range of eating and shopping options, and a great local 'pub' - The Inglewood Hotel, not to mention fantastic public transport into the city (~6km away). Additionally, a Coles shopping centre, and an IGA offer convenient grocery shopping and good parking. The major Morley shopping centre is only 5mins away for Myers etc.

The only real cons for us are possibly the fact that there is still some community housing and the Midland trainline on the eastern side of Inglewood in neighbouring Maylands. As a result, there are occassionally small amounts of grafitti in that part of Inglewood (along York St etc) That said, this really is limited to the Maylands side, and there are really no other issues assocaited with that area.

All in all, a great, affordable suburb, close to the city and fantastic for young families. We have thoroughly enjoyed the 4 years we've spent in Inglewood and will be sad to be leaving behind such a lovely suburb.

Great for

  • Lots of suburban parks
  • An ever increasing number of eating options
  • Close to city
  • Close to amenities
  • Mixture of character and modern houses
  • Safe and quiet suburb

Not great for

  • The odd grafitti on the eastern side (Maylands border)

Rentals in Inglewood

"Great vibe. Old fashioned leafy suburb that looks great and feels safe. Just minutes from the CBD"

We recently moved to Inglewood, my only regret is that we should have done it years ago. This suburb has everything from good public transport, Schools, shopping and restaurants all at your doorstep. It is a neat clean suburb that has a great community feel about it. Considering it is only 5 km from the heart of Perth it is very quite. It feels safe to live here. We just love everything about it. All the neighbors have been most welcoming. It is very quite at night.

"Homely, freindly safe place to live"

It is like going back in time it is a safe place to live and people talk to each other. Parks are everywhere and so well maintained, our garden over looks a beautiful nature resevere it is like having your own secret garden. Shops, restaurants, city, golf course, aqua and fittnes centres, schools and much more all within walking distance and the best transport service, it is a great place to live for all age groups. We have lived in the outer suburbs and you just can't compare our quality of life is 100% better.

"Great, quiet, trouble-free neighbourhood"

We have lived in Wood St, North Inglewood, for 20 years, and we have no intention of moving. This spot is just ideal. Located halfway between Morley and Perth City, and only 5 kms from the city centre, this area has no trouble-makers, good & quiet neighbours, a very wide range of schools, restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, parks, and sports facilities, all within 3 kms. We have never suffered from a crime of any type in 20 years. Great bus services, easy vehicle access to all major routes, close to the airport (but with no aircraft noise), this place has it all. The problem is trying to get a spot in here, people queue to rent or buy here.
