Maybe this will bring some life to Docklands - it needs it!

Costco is excellent value if you ever have a need for or somewhere to store 100 rolls of toilet paper at one time!

How is it different from Campbells Cash and Carry and other bulk buy stores?

I heard it is worth buying toilet paper from Costco.

I went last week - it is fantastic. Costs about $60 to sign up but the pricing was much better than Safeway and Coles on most items. What surprised me were the homewares (TV's, outdoor furniture etc).

The $2.50 hotdog and bottomless drinks are great too!

I'm glad someone bumped this...I went the other week and let me just say...WOW!!!

I was such a skeptic about the whole buying in bulk thing. My concerns were:

Do you actually save enough money to make up the $60 joining fee?
Arent they all crappy brands?
Don't you have to buy in bulk? I don't want 1000 toothpaste toobs...where am I going to store it all?!

ANYWAYS...ALL of those concerns washed away when I went it. First of all, you would more than likely save more than $60 in your first shop EASY! Second, they sell great brands. In fact most are the brands they have at Coles and Wooly's. You can even buy LCD TV's at cheaper than JB-HiFi prices. AMAZING

Also you don't really have to buy in bulk. For example, you can buy a 6 pack of deodorant (not 100) so the point about storing the stuff is a non-issue.

Without sounding like I'm from the Cult of Costco, you really should check it out. It's quite amazing, there's nothing really like it that I have seen.

The only downside is that you should never ever go on a Saturday. It's waaay to busy, and kinda leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

AJ - thanks for the tips about Saturdays - unfortunately it's a little late as I'm off to Costco tomorrow with a friend to 'split the 6 cans of deoderant and 100 rolls of toilet paper'.

What's the parking like? Is it a nightmare like the rest of the Docklands?

DO NOT...i repeat...DO NOT go tomorrow. I've only been once on a Saturday, and I've never seen anything busier. It's also very annoying as everyone has oversized trolleys, and of course people don't really move too fast down the aisles. If you don't have a choice...then best of luck!

One other thing I forgot to mention however is how cheap the alcohol is. Imported and local spirits for very very cheap, and it's not in bulk. So you will never pay more than around $48 for a slab of beer including imported ones.
