Day trips from Melbourne

If you are are looking for to get out of Melbourne this christmas holiday, I have noted down a few locations which are a short drive from the city.

Sherbrooke Forest Walk -
Pack some food and head to Sherbrooke Forest. Be it cold or hot, it doesn't matter. it has BBQ facilities if sandwiches are not your thing. Taking in all the fresh air the forest has to offer, you may even feel compelled to visit one of the many mountain taverns and get a drink after the exploration.

Mornington Peninsula/Hot Springs - http://www.peninsulahotsprings.com/
Pay a relaxing visit to the Hot Springs in the Mornington Peninsula, enjoy the range of hot water pools. Hilltop pool, cave pool or mineral pool. Spoilt of choice, or spoil yourself and relax in all of the pools.

Hanging Rock - http://www.visitmacedonranges.com/natural-attractions/hanging-rock/
Head over to the natural phenomenon that is over 6 Million years old, Hanging Rock. You spend 40 minutes climbing to the top then you can spend the afternoon taking in the views, and the food you hopefully brought with you.

Puffing Billy - http://puffingbilly.com.au/en/
Head on down to the Dandeong Ranges and take in the sights in style, by open air steam train! This train has dining option on the train or you can hop off at Emerald Lake Park (doesnt the name make it sound amazing!!) and bring your own food and spend the afternoon there.
