What is the best way to find 3-6 month rentals?

I have just arrived in Melbourne staying at a friends place. I am planning to be here for maybe 6 months. I would like to find a one bedroom furnished apartment in the city or inner north up to say 480pw. That seems achievable except all of the rentals want 12month lease and the short term executive rental are ridiculous prices. Any suggestions on how I should go about searching?
